Toledoans criminally charged in tire-dumping scheme

A Lucas County grand jury has indicted two Toledo residents in an illegal tiredumping operation involving thousands of scrap tires, Attorney General Dave Yost said. Chad Gatter and Amanda Wagner face one count each of open dumping of solid wastes and transporting scrap tires without a registration certificate, all unclassified felonies.

First Unitarian Church to hold discussion panel

The First Unitarian Church, 3205 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, will hold a panel discussion “And Justice for All” on Tuesday, September 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The panelists will discuss the inequities that local citizens face in housing, health care, legal affairs, the workplace and education due to discriminatory practices because of gender, race, age, perceived social class and other factors.

Artists’ Club to host Paul Brand workshop

Paul Brand, artist and retired MCO science professor, will teach an introduction to oil painting course at the Toledo Artists’ Club, September 16 and 17. The class will be in the artist village at Toledo Botanical Gardens.

Woodward High School celebrates centennial

Woodward High School is celebrating their 100th anniversary this upcoming school year, along with a celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Class of 1968. The class will celebrate with an Italian buffet at Incorvaia’s Bene Italiano on Monroe Street.

Friendship Park Community Center has posted the weekly menu for the community lunches. Guests are asked for donations of $2.50 per meal, and lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.

Gwen Shipman’s works to be included in Art Walk

The ninth annual outdoor Point Place Art Walk will be held Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the walkway along Maumee Bay, near the lighthouse and Pinkley Pathway in Point Place. The event is free and open to the public. Artists are invited to participate in the juried show that will feature a variety of media.
