Hannah’s Socks, a community based non-profit organization dedicated to helping people affected by homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse in Ohio and Southeast Michigan, is hosting a Socktober donation drive.

Positively Pink, a women’s health series, will hold an event on Thursday, September 21, at 7 p.m., with social time beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Wood County Hospital meeting rooms. This night will focus on “Laughter: An Invaluable Tool for Coping with Life’s Stressors.”

Metroparks Toledo is stirring the cauldron this Halloween with two hauntingly fun events. The park district will host the second annual Eerie Manor Tours at Wildwood Preserve Manor House, 5100 Central Avenue, Toledo.

Metroparks Toledo offers plenty of volunteer opportunities during the month of September and throughout the year. Current volunteers can sign up for specific programs using the Volgistics app at volgistics.

With so much attention given toward Glass City, Metroparks Toledo’s newest addition to the system, staff presented the park commissioners with an overview of the other parklands in the system and the history behind them.

TARTA will connect customers to the Glass City Glowtacular at Glass City Metropark on Saturday, September 16. Buses from the parking lot at the Docks will be running to and from the event, which takes place from 7 to 11 p.m.

The City of Toledo and YMCA of Greater Toledo broke ground for the new Wayman Palmer YMCA during a ceremony that included community leaders, partners and dignitaries. The Wayman Palmer YMCA, a cornerstone in the Warren-Sherman neighborhood since its establishment in 1978, and Inez Nash Park will be transformed into a new community hub.

The northwest Ohio RV dealers will present their fall RV show, Friday through Sunday, September 15 to 17 at the Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee. The show features more than 100 recreational vehicles from six RV dealers, with special show pricing.

The ninth annual outdoor Point Place Art Walk will be held Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the walkway along Maumee Bay, near the lighthouse and Pinkley Pathway in Point Place. The event is free and open to the public. Artists are invited to participate in the juried show that will feature a variety of media.

Penta Career Center, a career technical educational facility for high school and adult students since 1965, is searching for individuals for its annual Outstanding Alumni Awards. Since its inception in 1993, awards have been presented to 179 Penta alumni.
