Timothy James Tierney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend. He was a police officer, veteran and cowboy action shooter. Tim departed this world suddenly on June 10, 2021, at the age of 65.

Tim was born to Angela I. (Smith) and James T. Tierney on August 12, 1955. He was a graduate of Macomber Vocational High School, class of 1974. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1974, where he was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina, attached to VMAQ-2 as an ECM technician until 1979.

On December 20, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart, Kris A. Fauble, then moved back to Toledo to raise their family. Tim was employed with IBM until 1983, when he got his dream job with the Toledo Police Department. In 1990, he joined the Marine Reserves as a military police officer and was activated for the first Gulf War. After returning home, he transferred to the Ohio Air National Guard in the security forces. He retired from the Ohio Air National Guard in 2002. In 2016, he retired from the Toledo Police Department and then joined the Lucas County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit until 2020.

Tim enjoyed cowboy action shooting, traveling, biking, swimming, boating, jet skiing and spoiling his grandchildren. He especially loved spending time with his family and relaxing at their lake house in Michigan.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kris Tierney; daughters, Jamie (Joseph) Nowacki and Erin (Kevin) Eidt; son, Ryan (Lydia) Tierney; grandchildren, Joseph and Isabella Nowacki, and Connor Eidt; sister, Jan (Jeffrey) Usher; sisters-in-law, Janet Tierney and Kim Perry; brother-in-law, Craig (Debbie) Fauble; nephews, Jeffrey Usher and Brad Perry; niece, Jillian (Tiffany) Usher, and great-niece, Emmah Usher. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Tierney; infant son, Andrew Tierney, and infant granddaughter, Julia Nowacki.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 24, from 2 to 8 p.m., at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit Street, Toledo, where there will be a combined memorial service from the American Legion Toledo Police Post No. 512 and F.O.P. Lodge No. 40, at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 25, at 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 Summit Street, Toledo. Immediately following will be the graveside service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, corner of Erie and Cemetery roads, Erie, Michigan. Luncheon to follow at the Erie VFW Hall.
