On the 22nd anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, Penta Career Center marked Patriot Day with a ceremony outside the main entrance. Students and staff gathered near the flagpole at Penta’s main entrance with Perrysburg Township Fire Chief Tom Brice who delivered the keynote address.

Two new requirements for businesses located in Toledo have been implemented following passage by Toledo City Council. The City of Toledo appreciates the cooperation of all businesses and institutions.

The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will host its fall pond clinic on Monday, September 18, 6 p.m., at 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo. The free event is for current and future pond owners or developers to learn about best management practices for creating and maintaining habitat, fish stocking, weed control and other aspects of maintenance to increase the overall quality and in turn, enjoyment of the pond.

The next CedarCreek Church Clothing Closet giveaway is planned for Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 3540 Seaman Road, Oregon.

The Salvation Army food pantry, 620 North Erie Street, will have new hours beginning Monday, October 2. The food pantry will now be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.

A free veterans lunch is scheduled for Thursday, September 21, 12:30 p.m., at Friendship Park Community Center, 2930 131st Street. Guest speaker will be Jacob Healy, outreach specialist, Toledo Office of the U.S.
