The Friendship Park Community Center 2024 executive board and board members were elected on December 13. Friendship Park Community Center will host a heritage dinner on Friday, January 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be a Mexican dinner prepared by Lillian Martinez Katko and Maria Loera.

Friendship Park Community Center has posted the weekly menu for the community lunches. Guests are asked for donations of $2.50 per meal, and lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.

River View Yacht Club will again hold its Sunday commodore’s breakfast buffet fund-raisers, beginning January 7 and continuing every Sunday through March 24, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at 5981 Edgewater Drive, Point Place.

State Senator Theresa Gavarone honored Chancellor Randy Gardner for his dutiful service to the State of Ohio. The former legislator is retiring from the Ohio Department of Higher Education at the end of the year.

The Ability Center of Greater Toledo has released the results of a comprehensive survey highlighting the critical need for enhanced passenger rail services in northwest Ohio. The survey, conducted between April and June 2023, received more than 500 responses, revealing a strong demand for improved passenger rail connectivity, especially among residents with disabilities.

Hospice of Northwest Ohio is in need of volunteers who are a licensed hairdresser or barber. Hair care volunteers provide basic haircuts only for patients living in their homes or at nursing homes throughout Wood, Lucas, Fulton, Henry, Ottawa and Monroe counties.
