Community quilt-a-thon to benefit Project Linus

National Project Linus blanket day will be held on Saturday, February 17, at Living Faith United Methodist Church, 1240 Columbus Avenue, Holland. The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, crafted by volunteer blanketeers. Anyone who can learn to tie a square knot is invited to join anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Online art auction to benefit Nature’s Nursery

Local artists have applied their paint, pastels and pottery to highlight the wildest features of some of the education ambassadors for an upcoming art auction to raise funds for Nature’s Nursery. The online auction will run for two weeks in February and includes everything from owls to opossums and even some art made by the animals as well.

Chili cookoff to be held at Ottawa NWR

On Saturday, February 17, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge (Ottawa NWR) will host a chili cookoff. Residents are invited to bring a crockpot of their best chili for a chance to win.

Boy Scout Troop 123 to hold spaghetti dinner fund-raiser

The annual Boy Scout Troop 123 spaghetti dinner at Messiah Lutheran Church is back. They will have indoor seating while also offering drive-thru service. The dinner will be served on Scout Sunday, February 4, and will feature spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, garlic bread and homemade dessert.

Glass City Credit Union offers five scholarships

Glass City Federal Credit Union is offering five scholarship awards to area students who meet the following criteria: •The student will be attending a two- or four-year accredited post-secondary institution during the 2024-25 school year. •The student, or their parent, stepparent or legal guardian, is a member of Glass City Federal.

‘All Aboard!’ train exhibit opening at Museum of Fulton County

A new “All Aboard!” train exhibit at the Museum of Fulton County will allow guests to journey back in time to explore the history of trains in this region. The interactive exhibit featuring train and depot artifacts, model trains and hands-on activities will focus on the people who worked on and around the railroad. The exhibit opened to the public on January 26.
