Toledo Museum of Art receives 46-pieces gospel

The Toledo Museum of Art has expanded its collection with its acquisition of “The Pozzi Gospels,” a collection of Armenian manuscripts of the Gospel, named after Jean Pozzi, who owned the manuscript from 1936 to 1967.

Blackeyed susans, a meadow wildflower

When black-eyed susans are blooming you know the wildflower action has shifted from woods to meadows. Black-eyed susans are the poster species for moving into open spaces. Their affinity for being among the first plants to emerge in barren, newly cleared fields or after a burn is so well-known that they are called a pioneer plant. Their beautiful, dark-centered many-rayed bright yellow blooms are hard to miss.

Haunted Waterville tour tickets available

Tickets for this season’s Haunted Waterville Tours 2023 are now available for purchase. “Last year, tickets sold out by early July and this summer tickets are already in demand,” said Julia Wiley, vice president of the Waterville Historical Society, which organizes the tours.

Taking care of the Point Place lighthouse

Members of the Point Place lighthouse care team have been impacted by the recent tornado, so beautification services are presently on hold. V.J. Huffman would like to reassure community members that the lighthouse is receiving all necessary upkeep to maintain its safety and grounds care will resume in the near future.

TARTA announces new electric bus fleet

TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski and U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur announced more than $9 million in funding through the low- or no-emission vehicle and grants for buses and bus facilities federal programs. TARTA will use these funds to add eight zeroemission electric buses to its fleet and acquire six new level 3 electric charging stations.

Disabled and Proud Festival held in Toledo

On July 8, the City of Toledo partnered with local disability advocacy agencies to kick off Disability Pride Month and hold the cities first Disabled and Proud Festival. The event featured agility dog demonstrations, food trucks, face painting, music and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with wheelchairs provided by Adaptive Sports Ohio.

Join Destination Toledo’s 419 Ale Trail

Destination Toledo launched the third round of its 419 Ale Trail on June 18. A total of 32 breweries and craft beverage makers, all located within the 419-area code, are participating in this year’s event. Bandwango will again provide a free, mobile-exclusive digitized passport that will allow visitors and locals to check in. Brochures are available at all locations and will include sign up instructions, a QR code and a complete list of participating businesses.
