City seeks entries for new Toledo flag design

The City of Toledo, in partnership with the Arts Commission, is calling for entries for proposed redesigns of the Toledo flag. This initiative aims to engage the community in reimagining the city’s visual identity and unify residents around a flag that reflects Toledo’s spirit and values. Additional details will be publicized in the coming months.

Volunteers needed May 18 to help beautify Summit Street

The Point/Shoreland Beautification Committee plans to plant the cannas and sweet potato vines in the pots along Summit Street, on Saturday, May 18. Those willing to help should meet at the Point Place Lighthouse at 10 a.m., where volunteers will break into groups. Participants should bring garden gloves, small hard shovels and a couple gallons of water. Children over 10 are welcome to help, if supervised. Vincas will be planted around the frog, next to Fire Station 24 on Summit Street.

Toledo Heart Walk to be held Sunday, May 19

On Sunday, May 19, join the American Heart Association at Promenade Park for the Toledo Heart Walk. The event will begin with a health expo and interactive warm-ups at 7:30 a.m. The walk kicks-off at 9 a.m. and will move through the Glass City Metropark. The path of the walk is pictured below.

ORKA seeking new members

ORKA (Ottawa River Kleanup Association) is celebrating its 25th year in 2024. In celebration, the organization held a reunion at La Chalupa on March 26.
