ROBERT CHARLES FAIR

Sherman, Texas

Robert Charles Fair passed away on Saturday, December 22, at TMC Hospital. He was 83.

Robert was born to the late Murlin and Elizabeth Fair in Toledo, Ohio, on October 17, 1935. After high school graduation, Robert began employment with Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) in Rossford. Robert assisted with the opening of new LOF plants in both Collingwood, Ontario, Canada and Sherman, Texas. Retiring from LOF after 31 years of service, Robert continued to work at Knight’s Furniture and Kaiser Aluminum until his full retirement in 2000. Robert was an avid sports fan, but was especially fond of the New York Yankees and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Robert is survived by Rita, his loving wife for what would have been 63 years in January 2019, and his sons Gregory (Pamela), Robert (Lori) and Thomas (Griselda). He was Poppy/ Grandpa to six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, with another one expected in the summer.

Robert also is survived by his sister Norma (Henry) Fleischmann, brother Norman, sister-in-law Nancy Turner and brother-in-law Ralph Hahn (Renee). Robert was predeceased by his parents, in-laws Frank and Angela Gwozdz, brother Charlie, sister Patsy Thigpen, brothers-in-law Thomas Gwozdz and Ronald Turner, and sister-in-law Connie Hahn.

A rosary was recited at Waldo’s Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, on Friday, December 28, at 6 p.m. Visitation followed until 8 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial was held at St. Mary’s Church in Sherman on Saturday, December 29, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus.
