‘Tale as old as time’ on stage at RHS this weekend
The beloved tale as old as time, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” opens tonight and runs through Sunday at the Rossford High School auditorium, presented by the RHS drama department.
The 1994 musical is a stage adaptation of the 1991 Academy Awardwinning animated film, which was been based on a classic French folk tale. The musical has been an international sensation playing to more than 35 million people in 13 countries.
The original Broadway production ran for 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The story tells of Belle (Karen Hayes), a young woman who lives with her widower father Maurice (Nicholas Roe) in a small provincial French town bullied by Gaston (Noah Taylor) and his crony LeFou (Luke Rhue).
