Gertrude “Toni” Hayden, age 84, of Toledo’s Point Place Community, passed away at home on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
She was born June 11, 1934, in Toledo, to Anthony and Helen (Kwader) Trznadel. In her younger years, Toni worked for the Spicer-Dana Corporation. One of her passions was collecting, operating several antiques stores including Toni’s Collector’s Corner. She also sold her antiques at the Antique Center of Ohio.
Toni took pleasure in attending and setting up garage sales and flea markets, and was always looking for a new treasure. She enjoyed completing all kinds of puzzles and sitting outside by the pool.
Toni was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved caring for her family. She never complained, and was always the light in everyone’s day. Toni always spread joy and happiness, and will be greatly missed by all.
Toni is survived by her children, Anthony (Ruth) Forbes, Carmen (Dennis) Kossman, Helenne (Joseph Jr.) Hayden-Barbara, and Brian (Nikki) Hayden; sister, Ann Marie Ortmann; grandchildren, Alexander Kossman (fiancé, Brooke), Katrina Forbes, Joseph Barbara III, Jacqu’lenne (Floyd) Bass, and Tayia (Donald II) Zapadka; great-grandchildren, Anthony Forbes, Harper Zapadka, Hudson Bass, Sullivan Bass, and Hayden Grace Zapadka; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Joann Thomas, and special friends, Penny and Mike Winkle.
She was preceded by her parents; husband, James Hayden, and brother and sister-inlaw, John and Veronika Trznadel.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., on Monday, January 14, at Ottawa River Yacht Club, 5844 Edgewater Drive, Toledo.
