After a lifetime of love and laughter, deep friendships, care for others and faith in God, Donna Serviss of Temperance, Michigan, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 9, 2019, following an 18-month battle with breast cancer.
Donna was born in Toledo, in 1961, with twin brother Dave (Diane) Cook, to Ann (Bessinger) and Glenn “Bill” Cook. They were the second of two matched sets in the Cook family along with older twin siblings Bill (Gloria) Cook and Liz (Roger) Hungerford.
Donna had a 38-year career in customer service and sales, most recently with Global Chemical Resources, but she would tell you that her best work was her daughters Ashley (Casey Staples) Seybold and Megan (Joshua) Seybold-Legg.
The love of Donna’s life was Terry Serviss, her husband of 25 years. They built a family with Ashley and Megan and Terry’s daughters, Angie (Eric) Winters and Jenny (Eric) Johnson, who gave them six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Donna also is survived by an aunt, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her beloved dog Sophie “Gracie Girl.”
Cruising, camping, quilting and crafting were among her favorite pastimes, but Donna was devoted to serving at Point Place United Church of Christ in Toledo, where she was a member since 1982. Donna offered her time, talents and treasures for many programs over the years and made lifelong friendships among her church family.
Donna and Terry were fans of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and Trine University, where their grandsons Marcus and Brandon Winters played football for the Trine Thunder.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Erin Seybold.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 16, at Point Place United Church of Christ, 4920 297th Street, Toledo, OH 43611. Memorial visitation began at 2 p.m., with the service at 2:30 p.m. A reception followed.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any gifts in remembrance of Donna would be made to Point Place United Church of Christ to benefit 1Matters organization.
Arrangements were entrusted to David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home.
