Mayor proposes tax renewal, increase for November election
Amidst federal indictments, face masks mandates and an ongoing pandemic, the November election continues to draw near.
With that deadline in sight, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz recently introduced two issues for the ballot: a tax renewal for city services and a temporary tax increase for road repairs.
The first issue is for a renewal of the 3/4 percent income tax. If passed, it is expected to generate $56.8 million that would fund police and fire service, snow removal, water services and park maintenance, among other services.
The temporary tax was first passed in 1982 and has been renewed by voters every year it has been on the ballot.
