Celebrating community news of 2018
A Look Back …
The Point & Shoreland Journal welcomes the new year with a look back at the old.
Many volunteers, organizations and businesses contribute their time and talents to make the Point Place and Shoreland community “The Best Place Anyplace.”
Following is a month-tomonth look at some of the good news from these groups that graced the pages of the Journal in 2018.
January–The Point Place Business Association began the year with a banquet to kick off its 70-year anniversary of service to the community.
The program included a look back at the rich history and accomplishments of the PPBA. New officers were installed at the banquet, which also included a presentation to Dr. Alvin Zohn, one of the founding members, and recognition of Lindsay Webb, a longtime member of Toledo City Council who was appointed the Lucas County treasurer.
The PPBA meets monthly. Guest speakers at last year’s meetings included Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, District 6 Councilman Chris Delaney, and Bill Burkett of the City of Toledo Economic and Business Development Department. The group hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat, sponsored the Point Place Days Parade and honored veterans at its November meeting.
