In 1966, the City of Perrysburg purchased a plot of land from Frank Spohler for use by the water department.
Part of the property was used for a reservoir and a pumping station for the sale of water to Levis Industrial Park, which was south of town on State Route 25 (currently Levis Commons). The remainder of land was designated to be a children’s park.
The park was dedicated in September of 1969 and named in honor of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower memorializing his life and deeds.
