City council elects new president

As a child, new Perrysburg City Council president Jonathan Smith told his parents he wanted to be President by 2020, the year he would turn 35.

“It’s 2020, and he did it,” Mr. Smith’s mother, Mary, quipped after her son was sworn in by Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn at the January 7 meeting. She added, “We’re very proud of him.”

Mr. Smith is “excited, honored and can’t wait to work hard for the city, make fiscally sound decisions and be open to the public’s input.”
