Woodward High School celebrates centennial

Woodward High School is celebrating their 100th anniversary this upcoming school year, along with a celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Class of 1968. The class will celebrate with an Italian buffet at Incorvaia’s Bene Italiano on Monroe Street.

Weekly menu for FPCC lunches

Friendship Park Community Center has posted the weekly menu for the community lunches. Guests are asked for donations of $2.50 per meal, and lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.

Gwen Shipman’s works to be included in Art Walk

The ninth annual outdoor Point Place Art Walk will be held Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the walkway along Maumee Bay, near the lighthouse and Pinkley Pathway in Point Place. The event is free and open to the public. Artists are invited to participate in the juried show that will feature a variety of media.

Point Place residents on Kent State dean’s list

Point Place residents, Megan Enis and Madison Mikolajczyk, earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2023 term at Kent State University. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.40 or greater and complete 12 or more lettergraded credit hours.

Mercy Health offers mobile mammograms

Mercy Health’s mobile mammography unit has visits scheduled throughout the region in September. The mobile mammography unit is customized for patient convenience and will deliver 3D mammograms to women age 40 and older.

ORKA clean-up scheduled for Saturday, September 9

ORKA (Ottawa River Kleanup Association) will hold their 24th annual cleanup of local waterways on Saturday, September 9. All are invited to Ottawa River Yacht Club in Davey Jones Locker for coffee and doughnuts at 8:30 a.m.

American Red Cross provides safety tips for returning students this fall

The American Red Cross Northern Ohio Region has various tips for students and parents to follow as children return to school for the fall term. “There are some special steps parents of younger kids should take, especially if they have youngsters going to school for the first time,” said John Gareis, regional preparedness manager.
