North Coast Big Band to return to Grand Rapids concert series

Due to popular demand, the North Coast Big Band will return for its 22nd appearance as part of the “Rhythm on the River” concert series in Grand Rapids on Sunday, August 27 at 4 p.m. The series is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society, and the band will perform at the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River, at the end of Lincoln Street.

180th Fighter Wing to host 5K run/walk

The 180th Fighter Wing will host the second annual Stinger 5K run/walk at the 180th Fighter Wing, 660 Eber Road, Swanton, at 9 a.m., Sunday, September 10. The one-of-a-kind event features a route that includes a start/finish at the 9/11 Memorial, running past the fighter wing flightline, down the taxiway and runway.

Detour lifted for TARTA routes on Jefferson Avenue

TARTA riders of routes 22 and 26 will once again be able to catch buses on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Toledo when the detour is lifted on Sunday, August 27. Since April of 2021, inbound trips for those routes have been shifted to stops on Monroe Street, with eight stops effected on each route between Collingwood Boulevard and North Erie Street.

Toledoans criminally charged in tire-dumping scheme

A Lucas County grand jury has indicted two Toledo residents in an illegal tiredumping operation involving thousands of scrap tires, Attorney General Dave Yost said. Chad Gatter and Amanda Wagner face one count each of open dumping of solid wastes and transporting scrap tires without a registration certificate, all unclassified felonies.

First Unitarian Church to hold discussion panel

The First Unitarian Church, 3205 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, will hold a panel discussion “And Justice for All” on Tuesday, September 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The panelists will discuss the inequities that local citizens face in housing, health care, legal affairs, the workplace and education due to discriminatory practices because of gender, race, age, perceived social class and other factors.

Artists’ Club to host Paul Brand workshop
