Friendship Park Community Center has posted the weekly menu for the community lunches. Guests are asked for donations of $2.50 per meal, and lunch is served at 11:45 a.m.

Genacross Lutheran Services to hold benefit concert Oct. 5

Nigel Hayes-Davis creates fund for local students financial assistance

Whitmer High School graduate Nigel Hayes-Davis credits much of his success to the guidance of his mother, Talaya Davis. To honor her and give back to the students of his alma mater, Mr. Hayes-Davis has created the Talaya Davis Panther Fund—a fund providing financial assistance to Whitmer High School students unable to cover the costs of academic supplies and resources.

OHP focuses on teen driver safety

The Ohio Highway Patrol is placing focus on teen driver safety. Teen drivers have a higher rate of fatal crashes, caused mainly by immaturity and a lack of skills and experience, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission is holding its third annual Name-a-Snowplow contest beginning Monday, October 16. The contest rules are: •The name submission period runs from October 16 to November 15.

Corn maze now open

The corn maze at the Butterfly House is now open through October 29. Hours are from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays; from noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, weather permitting. Ticket are sold until one hour before close.
