Mercy Health’s mobile mammography unit has visits scheduled throughout the region in March. The mobile mammography unit is customized for patient convenience and will deliver 3D mammograms to women age 40 and older.

BTT to present ‘The Great Pancake Escape’

Ballet Theatre of Toledo (BTT) presents “The Great Pancake Escape,” a humorous and fun-filled ballet about a magician who accidentally mixes up his magic spells with a recipe for pancakes. Tickets cost $25 and are available now for performances on March 22 at 7 p.m. and March 23 at 2 p.m. at the Lourdes University Franciscan Center.

Notre Dame competes in speech and debate

Notre Dame Academy was successful at the recent Ohio Speech and Debate Association’s state tournament hosted at Wooster City Schools. Six students placed in the top 10 in the state and the team was the highest ranking from the Toledo district.

Three ways people can boost their mental health every day

Mental health issues have garnered considerable attention in recent years, but the scope of the global mental health crisis may be even greater than people realize. A recent study co-led by researchers at Harvard Medical School and the University of Queensland that was published in The Lancet Psychiatry in fall 2023 concluded that one out of every two people in the world will develop a mental health disorder at some point in their lifetime. That makes mental health disorders a more common problem than cancer, heart disease and other physical ailments that tend to garner more attention than mental health issues.

Senior box distribution set for Mar. 12-13

Senior food boxes will be distributed at the Friendship Park Community Center on Tuesday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, March 13, from 2 to 3 p.m. These are available to all who registered. The boxes are provided by the SeaGate Food Bank.

Fruit tree clinic set for Sat., March 23

The Ohio State University Extension Wood County will offer a fruit tree clinic on Saturday, March 23. It will run from 9 a.m. to noon, at Haslinger Orchards, 7404 U.S. Route 6, Gibsonburg, Ohio This program will educate participants on the production of fruit trees with emphasis on insects, diseases and pruning. Information will be provided using both organic and conventional practices.
