Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted harvested an eight-point whitetail buck in Morrow County last week with a TenPoint Crossbow. “I love crossbow hunting during the fall,” said Lt. Governor Husted. “The weather is mild, the trees are beautiful, the harvesting of crops is active, the aroma in the air is refreshing and there is so much activity in the outdoors with the animals in the forest actively preparing for winter. It’s peaceful and wonderful.”

Gov. DeWine launches Healthy Aging program

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) Director Ursel McElroy launched a new grant program designed to empower Ohioans to thrive as they age. Administered by ODA, Ohio’s new Healthy Aging grants program is providing $40 million in support of local aging services focused on helping Ohioans ages 60 and older stay healthy, live longer and maintain their independence.

Christmas Village 5K, reindeer dash is December 2

The Christmas Village 5K and reindeer dash will be held at 6760 Providence Street, Whitehouse, on Saturday, December 2. The 5K run/walk begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the reindeer dash, a free run for children, at 5:30 p.m.

Toledo kicks-off food waste composting program

The City of Toledo recently launched its food waste composting program, a project aimed at tackling environmental challenges like climate change and sustainable waste management. Supported by the One Percent for the Environment funding, this initiative is a collaborative effort involving Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful (KTLCB), Metroparks Toledo, GoZERO and Toledo City Council members Nick Komives, Theresa Gadus and Sam Melden.
