Hospice of Northwest Ohio seeking hair care volunteers

Hospice of Northwest Ohio is in need of volunteers who are a licensed hairdresser or barber. Hair care volunteers provide basic haircuts only for patients living in their homes or at nursing homes throughout Wood, Lucas, Fulton, Henry, Ottawa and Monroe counties.

TOPICS Camera Club to meet Wednesday, January 10

TOPICS Camera Club, a non-profit organization open to everyone, will meet Wednesday, January 10, at 6:30 p.m., at the Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Road, Monclova. January’s emphasis will be on monochrome photos.

Change coming to watersheds in 2024

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District board of trustees passed a resolution to cover the cost of maintaining and operating district watersheds. Five gallons of water will cost $1.25 starting Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The cost for a gallon of water remains 25 cents per gallon.

Ohio Turnpike completes numerous projects in 2023

Apart from the major bridge replacement project that straddles the border of Summit and Portage counties, major construction along the Ohio Turnpike has been halted for the winter months. This past construction season, work focused on continuing projects associated with the modernization of the toll collection system and on bridges.

Ohio Turnpike rates increase beginning in Jan.

The Ohio Turnpike toll rates will increase on January 1, 2024. The rate adjustment, which creates a responsible and stable financial plan, was authorized by members of the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission to meet operating, debt service and capital improvement costs.

Wild Lights workshop at W.W. Knight

Tips for storing holiday decorations

Decorating a home for holidays is quite popular. A survey from the National Retail Federation found that 53 percent of respondents said they were planning to decorate their home or yard for Halloween in 2023. Lombardo Homes polled 1,000 Americans in 2021 and 94 percent said they celebrate Christmas in at least some way, and 84 percent said they decorate.
