Winterfest returns to Perrysburg Jan. 12-13

Downtown Perrysburg, Inc. (DPI) will host the 14th annual Winterfest on Friday and Saturday, January 12 and 13, on Louisiana Avenue and Second Street in historic Downtown Perrysburg. The event offers activities for the entire family.

Julie Gibbons, Toledo city clerk, sworn in

Julie Gibbons was sworn in as the first female Toledo city clerk since 1837, replacing longtime Clerk Gerald Dendinger. Ms. Gibbons has served council since 1998, serving as assistant clerk since 2006, and was unanimously voted by council in November.

35th annual Photo Arts Club of Toledo contest

The Photo Arts Club of Toledo is hosting its 35th annual photo contest at Secor Metropark. The exhibit will be open Saturday and Sundays, from noon to 4 p.m., March 23 through May 4, excluding Palm Sunday and Easter weekend. There will be no opening reception this year.

Contractors sought for Toledo grass mowing program

The City of Toledo’s Department of Public Service is seeking contractors to provide grass and vegetation-cutting services for city parks, right-of-ways and neighborhood parcels through its 2024 grass mowing program. Bids must be submitted by Tuesday, January 16, at 1:30 p.m.

Service plazas renovations nearly complete

Renovations are still ongoing inside several of the Ohio Turnpike service plazas along the 241-mile road, but the work is nearing completion. At Wyandot and Blue Heron service plazas, milepost 76.9, the turnpike and AVI Foodsystems recently completed a new Marco’s Pizza and Starbucks, offering an expanded range of food and beverage options for travelers.

According to provisional statistics, nine people were killed in eight fatal crashes on Ohio roadways this Christmas holiday weekend, resulting in the fewest deaths during a Christmas reporting period since 2018.

Weekly menu for FPCC lunches
