Trustees set zoning regulations for medical marijuana facilities
The Springfield Township trustees unanimously approved a text amendment to the zoning resolution for medical marijuana facilities.
At the July 31 meeting, the trustees discussed further restricting state law which calls for dispensaries not to be located within 500 feet of each other.
Planning director Jacob Barnes recommended a 1,000 foot restriction, but Trustee Andy Glenn suggested staying with the Ohio Revised Code.
“I don’t want to overregulate,” he said.
Mr. Barnes noted several jurisdictions are recommending 1,000 feet “to avoid clustering,” and added, “I thought their reasoning was pretty sound.”
