Springfield BOE takes stand on bills in Ohio House and Senate
The Springfield Board of Education declared its opposition to Ohio House Bill 200, which pertains to the Opportunity Scholarship program.
The bill, which also is opposed by the Ohio Education Association (OEA), would double the threshold for eligibility of the current program to 400 percent of poverty, expand eligibility to all grades and remove the cap on the number of vouchers.
In addition, HB 20 increases voucher amounts and allows the money to be used for fees as well as tuition with any unused portion of the voucher being deposited into an education savings account for the student.
