JEAN BABJACK
Jean D. Babjack, 78, of Rossford, died Saturday August 16, 2008, at Flower Hospital. She was born on April 3, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Ethel (Henry) Silvat. She was employed with Westfield Insurance Co. for 25 years, where she was the first traveling female insurance adjuster in the area. She also worked for State Farm Insurance Co. in Rossford. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and former member of the Rossford Eagles Auxiliary. Ms. Babjack enjoyed cooking, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Babjack; son, Robert (Marie) Babjack; daughters, Judy (Ray) Youngs and Amy (David) Ilconich; grandchildren, John (Andrea), Michelle, David, Mark, Kristen, Molly and Haley; great grandchildren, Harmony and Patrick, and her sister, Carol Luchovick. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 19, at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. The family suggests that those wishing to make a memorial contribution consider All Saints Catholic Church.

GEORGE BOBASH

George J. Bobash, 90, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at Kingston Assisted Living of Perrysburg. He was born in Fairview, Ohio, to Stephan and Helen Bobash, on August 27, 1917. His family moved to Rossford when he was young, and he graduated from Rossford High School in 1935. Mr. Bobash entered the Army Air Force during World War II. He attained sergeant grade while serving as an airplane mechanic with the 444th Bomb Group in the Indo-China theater. After the war, he married Susan Klepacz on July 26, 1947, in St. Mary Magdeline Church, Rossford. He worked briefly for Libby-Owens-Ford in Rossford, then was employed as a mechanic at Willys Overland Jeep (Daimler-Chrysler) in Toledo for more than 40 years. He attended the University of Toledo to become a certified electrician during his employment with Jeep. Mr. Bobash served one term as a Rossford City Council member in the 1960s. He also was a temporary U.S. mail carrier in the 1970s. After his retirement, he did interior painting for several years. He was a past member of American Legion Post 533 and the VFW in Rossford. An avid golfer throughout his life, he often hit the links with his brothers, Paul and Andrew. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Rossford, and sang in the choir for many years. Mr. Bobash is survived by his daughters, Mary (David) Trachl, Barbara Lafferty, and Lydia (Lawrence) Moore; son, Gerard Bobash; grandchildren, Chief Naval Officer Daniel Trachl, Dena (Max) Campos, Joseph Smith; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, in 1999. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen, John, Anthony, Frank, Paul and Andrew Bobash. Friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road, today, August 28, from 2 to 8 p.m., where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning, August 29, at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, beginning at 9 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to All Saints Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

ALBERT DAVIS
Albert F. Davis, 71, a native of Toledo, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on April 10, 1937, in Toledo, to Otis and Rosetta Davis. He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Thelma (Lovell) Davis; son, Albert Davis of Toledo; daughters, Betty (Steve) Wallington of Perrysburg and Janice (Mark) Wegner of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Charlie (Marie) Davis; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In accordance with Mr. Davis’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and services will be private at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. MAMIE JANTOSIK

Mamie M. (Garofalo) Jantosik, 83, died August 1, 2008. She was born June 7, 1925, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Sebastiano and Lucia Garofalo. As a young woman, she worked at various factories in Erie. While visiting a cousin, she met her future mother-in-law, Anna Gadas Jantosik. She saw a picture of her future husband, Joseph Jantosik, Jr., who was fighting in World War II. She began corresponding with him and they decided to meet on Valentine’s Day. They were engaged on March 19, and married on June 8, 1946. They moved to Rossford in 1952. Mrs. Jantosik held many jobs, including housecleaning, taking in laundry and sewing, working in restaurants, including the old Rossford Pizza Shop. She worked for 20 years at Chrysler in Perrysburg, and was a greeter at the Meijer store in Maumee. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, canning and baking. She and her daughter Linda enjoyed going out to eat, shopping and going to various Italian Festivals in Michigan and one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They also enjoyed watching the Food Channel, game shows, listening to the Polka Party on Sunday and drinking coffee. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jantosik (Bob Bird); son, David (Janet) Jantosik of Richland, Washington; grandson, Matthew of Hudson, Wisconsin; sister, Millie (Geoffrey) Sandels of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-inlaw, Evelyn Garofalo (Carl Carano) of Erie; godson and nephew, Joseph Garofalo, Jr. (Mary) of Erie, and many other family members, including Cameron Bird, Mary Stribrny and Janet, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1984. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Anthony; sisters-in-law, Mary, Julia, Helen, and brother-in-law, Edward. Friends visited at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road, on Wednesday, August 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues today, August 7, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 8, at 11 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.

CLARA SMIETANA
Clara A. Smietana, formerly of Rossford, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Avalon of Otterbein in Perrysburg. She was born to Paul and Mary Tochman, on October 25, 1917, in a frame house on Oakland Street, in the Polish area of north Toledo. She married Joe Smietana on October 14, 1943, in St. Adalbert’s Church. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Raymond (Paulette) Smietana; daughters, Marie (John) Gugger and Karen (Rob) Zukowski; grandsons, Greg Gugger and Brian (Angie) Gugger; granddaughters, Kim (Tim) Van Den Eynde, Paige (Carl) Nielsen, and Marie Reitz; great-grandchildren, Vaughn and Autumn Gugger, Joshua and Jenniffer Easter, and Briauna and Olivia Nielsen, and sister, Stella Zielinski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1998; sisters, Helen Michalak and Gene Klawitter; grandson Jason, Gugger, and granddaughter- in-law, Kim Gugger. A Mass of Christian Burial was held August 4, at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. FRANK RADOCY SR.
Frank J. Radocy Sr., 91, of Rossford, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Bay Park Community Hospital. He was born on August 11, 1916, in Rossford, to John and Bertha (Papp) Radocy. He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps as a technical sergeant during World War II from 1945 to 1946, where he received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He was a mechanic and driver for Norwalk Truck Line and Willis Truck Line and a member of the Local 20 Teamsters. An avid bowler and golfer, he was active in the National Senior Olympics, where he was a three-time winner in bowling and two-time winner in golf at the state level and was a national champion in bowling in his age group. For 12 years, Mr. Radocy was secretary and treasurer for the Teamsters Bowling League and also held other league officer positions through the years. He is survived by his children, Lillian Shurtleff, Joanne Auer, Frank Radocy, Jr. and Richard (Paula) Radocy; sister, Betty Konesky; grandchildren, James and John Auer, Charles and Michael Shurtleff; great-grandchildren, Phillip, Joshua, Ethyn and Thomas Auer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lillian, and Mary Ann; brothers, John, Bert and Joseph Radocy; sisters, Barbara Stewart, Ethel Durco and Rosemary Alexander. A Mass of Christian Burial was held August 5, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park. JOHN REPKA

John M. Repka, 87, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Heartland of Perrysburg. He was born July 24, 1921, to Martin and Mary (Smahaj) Repka in Genoa, Ohio. He served as an Army Staff Sargeant in World War II. He married Erma Swartz on March 30, 1948, in Stony Ridge, Ohio. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Mr. Repka worked as a mechanic for Libbey-Owens-Ford in Rossford, for 37 years, where he retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where he was an usher for more than 50 years. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7978 in Perrysburg and Toledo Assembly 4th Degree #807. He was a trustee for the American-Czech-Slovak Dance Club. Mr. Repka enjoyed listening to polka music and socializing with people. He is survived by his wife, Erma; daughters, Dorothy ÒDottieÓ Repka of Perrysburg, Judy (Russell) Whetsel of Rossford, and Christine Alexander of Toledo; grandchildren, Chrystal (Sagan) Hill, Lauren, Ashley and Jenna Whetsel; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Chloe Hill; sisters, Mary Ann Partin and Ann (Willis) Tasch; sisters-in-law, Lillian Repka and Bernice Pollauf, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James Repka, and brother, Martin Repka. A Knights of Columbus service and a Scripture service were held July 29, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Prayers were recited at the funeral home on July 30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery. EDWARD SPERLIK
Edward Joseph Sperlik died July 8, 2008. He was born August 27, 1944, in Poland. Orphaned during World War II, he was brought to the United States when he was seven years old and adopted by Joseph and Rosalie Sperlik of Rossford. He began his lifelong career in the bakery industry at age 15, when he began working in a neighborhood bakery. He also was a salesperson and technical trainer for several leading bakery manufacturers and distributors in Ohio, Colorado and Georgia. He also established a brokerage company in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Sperlik held several leadership rolls in his sons’ Cub Scout troop, including den leader, cub master, and committee chair, and later Scout Master when his sons became Boy Scouts. On the district level, he served as director for Cub Scout day camps and worked with several other district events. He was awarded the District Award of Merit and the Arrowhead Honor for exhibiting quality performance and leadership. In addition to scouting, Mr. Sperlik coached recreational league basketball. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Gardner); sons, Michael and Nathan of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter, Tina Marie Sperlik; granddaughter, Samantha Sperlik, and sister, Helen Sperlik of Rossford. A memorial service was held July 12, at Trinity Christian Fellowship, Lawrenceville. JUDITH ROMANOWICZ

Judith “Judy” Ann Romanowicz, 53, a lifelong resident of Rossford, died Wednesday July 16, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born on December 15, 1954, in Toledo, to Walter and Ann (Rebris) Fix. She attended St. Mary Magdelene School, Eagle Point Elementary and Rossford High School. Her first job was working at Tiedkes Department Store when she was 16 years old. She went on to work for 28 years at the Lion Store and Dillard’s, in various departments, including human resources. Most recently, she helped out at Dan’s Finest Meats in Rossford. Mrs. Romanowicz enjoyed family-related activities, traveling, camping, gardening and preparing ethnic meals and baked goods. She volunteered as a bookkeeper and served on the Board of Review for Boy Scout Troop #43. She was a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Hospitality Committee. She also served as an advisor of the All Saints Youth Group and acted as a reading tutor for All Saints School. She helped design and paint sets for school plays, acted as a wedding planner for her daughter’s wedding, and was approaching her 1000th visit to Curves of Perrysburg. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael Romanowicz; children, Michael S. Romanowicz and Melissa (Tony) Jaksetic; father, Walter Fix; brother, David (Alayne) Fix; niece, Amanda Fix, and mother in-law, Irma Romanowicz. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Fix. A Scripture Service was held July 20, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Funeral Mass was held July 21, at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Kent Kaufman officiating. JOSEPH ABELE
Joseph C. Abele, 61, of Toledo, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his home. He was born on October 31, 1946, in Toledo, the eldest son of Elden Abele and Mildred (Green) Abele. He was the owner of the Abele Funeral Home in Toledo. Mr. Abele graduated from St. Patrick’s of Heatherdowns School, where he was the first to earn Eagle Scout status. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He also attended the University of Toledo. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for many years. He enjoyed spending summers with his family at their Lake Erie, Sand Beach cottage. He was an avid fisherman and was active in the Sand Beach Association. Mr. Abele was director and vice president of the Sand Beach Conservancy. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen (Sweeney) Abele; daughter, Anne; brother, James (Carol) Abele, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held July 23, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road. A Funeral Mass will be held today, July 24, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, at 11 a.m., where the family will greet visitors beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. PAUL DAUBNER
Paul S. “Dutch” Daubner, 88, of Rossford died Friday, July 18, 2008, at his home. He was born February 21, 1920, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, to Michael and Terezia Daubner. He retired from Throm’s, where he had worked as a warehouse man. Prior to that, he worked at the Anderson Supply Co. Mr. Daubner served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and had been a prisoner of war in Germany for more than two years. He married Mary Kopena on November 15, 1947. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, watching sports, gardening, family poker, and was a member of the Rossford American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Joyce (David) Subleski; grandchildren, Steve (Heather) Subleski, Becca (Ron) DeLeeuw, Danny and Katie Subleski; sister, Mildred (Roland) Hayden of Appomattox, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and John Daubner, and his sisters, Mary Nestich, Emma Jankowski and Julia Baker. Services by the Rossford American Legion were held July 21, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. Funeral services were held July 22, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ike Redfern officiating. EUGENE KUSNER
Eugene “Gene” F. Kusner, 87, of Rossford, died July 15, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born in Rossford, to Ignatius “Jack” and Mary (Szul) Kusner. He was employed at Libbey-Owens- Ford in Rossford, for 40 years. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He had a hole-in-one-at number seven at Bayview Golf Course. Mr. Kusner served in the Coast Guard during World War II, on the USS Richardson in the Mediterranean area. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1939, and Davis Business College in 1941. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (Szofer); son, Timothy; brother, Raymond, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, Joseph, John and Michael; sisters, Helen McKosky, Josephine Kusner, Madeline Kaczmarek, Sophie Sohasky and Irene Smiarowski. A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 19, at Good Shepherd Church in East Toledo, with Father John Blaser officiating. Interment was private in Calvary Cemetery. BERNADEAN SCHROEPPEL
Bernadean L. Schroeppel, 86, of Rossford, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Bowling Green Manor. She was born on March 13, 1920, in Toledo, to Fred and Lois (Halford) Cole. She had worked for Ohio Bell, Penta County Vocational School as a bookkeeper and Dr. Green’s office as a medical assistant. Ms. Schroeppel was a longtime member of the Rossford United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Christman and Shirley Horn, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Schroeppel, and sons, Richard and William Schroeppel. Funeral services were held July 21, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with the Rev. Cliff Binion officiating. Interment was in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. MARY ANN GACIK RADOCY
Mary Ann Gacik Radocy, age 88, of Rossford, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Harborside in Perrysburg. She was born on March 10, 1920, to Steve and Julia (Kayuk) Sosko, in Toledo. She worked at Penta County Vocational School in the cafeteria for 10 years. She was a parishioner of All Saints Church and the former St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Rossford. She also was a member of the Rossford Senior Citizens, and the Rossford American Legion Auxiliary. She served as past president of the Rossford VFW Post 9599, and the Ohio VFW. Mrs. Radocy was well known for her volunteer work at the All Saints Festivals as well as her Slovak cooking and baking pastries. She spent 17 years helping to raise her two nephews, Frank and Robert Sosko. She is survived by her husband, Frank Radocy; daughter, Linda Haas; grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Haas and Courtney (Ryan) Terteling; greatgrandchildren, Abram Terteling and Emily and Lindsay Brown, and sister, Julia Hager. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John “Jan-o” Gacik; son, Phillip Gacik; brothers, Steve Sosko and Frank “Fritz” Sosko, and sisters, Anna LaPlante and Agnes Roman. A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 12, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Leyland officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. EUGENE WILLIAMS

Eugene E. Williams, 84 of Perrysburg, and formerly of Stryker, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Kingston Residence in Perrysburg. He was born on September 5, 1923, to Earcil and Eunice (Moulton) Williams in Toledo. After graduating from Olney High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed sports and excelled in playing football, basketball, track, baseball and softball during his younger years. He worked as a refinery worker for Pure Oil, was an owner of the Corner Bar in Perrysburg and the Friendly Tavern in Archbold, and retired as a postal worker in Defiance, Ohio. He was a life member of Fort Defiance VFW Post 3360. Mr. Williams is survived by his sons, Robert (Pam) Williams, and Ronald (Martha) Williams; stepdaughter, Kathy Schram; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and his sister, Loretta Main. A memorial service was held Thursday, July 10, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. Graveside services and burial were held July 11, at Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker, Ohio, with the Fort Defiance Post 3360 conducting military honors.

CHARLES URIE
Charles “Chuck” E. Urie, 79, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Perrysburg Commons. He was born July 10, 1929, in Toledo, to Alexander and Zelma (Moughler) Urie. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1947. Mr. Urie served as a Navy cook during the Korean War. He married Donna Biniker on September 26, 1953, in Toledo. He worked for the Toledo Blade as printer for 39 years and retired in 1991. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, where he was in the men’s group and worked as an usher. He also was a member of the Toledo Typographical Union. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Browns. Mr. Urie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna; sons, Kevin Urie of Toledo, and Gary (Andrea) Urie of Rossford; grandson, Mathew Urie; brother, Robert Urie; brothers-in-law, John Biniker and Danny (Linda) Biniker, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held July 16 at the Witzler- Shank Funeral Home,Perrysburg, with the Rev. Fred Shuman officiating. Burial was in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. MARY CIEPLY

Mary Cieply, 83, of Rossford, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at her residence. She was born on February 7, 1925, in the Ukraine, and was married in Germany during World War II, to John Cieply on May 18, 1945. She lived most of her life in Rossford. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Cieply moved to Sun City, Arizona, then eight years later to San Diego, California. They again moved back to Rossford in 1994. Mrs. Cieply enjoyed traveling, making crafts, sewing, knitting, cooking, baking and gardening. She volunteered with others, cooking pierogies weekly for the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church fund-raisers. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Andy) Anderson of Reno, Nevada and San Diego, California, Jo Ann (Tom) Tadsen of Sylvania, Ohio, and Joe (Diane) Cieply of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and grandchildren, Rebecca and Thomas Tadsen and Zachary and Jessica Cieply. A joint service for Mr. and Mrs. Cieply was held June 9, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossford, with the Rev. George Mullenkal officiating. Interment was in Fort Meigs Cemetery. JOHN CIEPLY

John Cieply, 84, of Rossford, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, three days after his wife of 63 years, Mary Cieply, who died on July 3, 2008. He was born on October 18, 1923, in the Ukraine, and was married in Germany, during World War II, to Mary on May 18, 1945. He worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. for 30 years, where he retired at the age of 54. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Cieply moved to Sun City, Arizona, then eight years later to San Diego, California. They moved back to Rossford in 1994. MARY LITTLE
Mary D. Little, 88 of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Harborside of Perrysburg. She was born on December 27, 1919, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Heen and Ella (Castle) Bowling. She had worked as a cook for Pee Wee’s Restaurant for many years. She married Vernon Little, and together they raised six children. Mrs. Little is survived by her daughters, Josephine Hatton, Madlyne Jacobs, Lauvern Boyd and Lou (Mark) Lievens; son, Harold (Mary) Rowe, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Rowe, and second husband, Vernon Little; son, Michael Little; sisters, Stella Gibson, Myrtle Ratliff and Alpha Ratliff, and brother, John Bowling. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 5, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. Interment was in Troy Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

EDWARD NYCZ

Edward Nycz, 85, of Rossford, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1923, to Andrew and Josephine (Mazur) Nycz. He was raised and educated in Rossford, and was one of eight brothers and sisters. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, where he participated in action in Okinawa, Ryukyu Island, and in the occupation of China. Upon returning to his hometown, he married Anne O’Leary, started his family and built his “Sears Roebuck Catalogue” home with his brother-in-law, Matt Faykosh. He began his career at the downtown Toledo Sears and Roebuck and retired after 40 years, where he had been in charge of shipping and receiving at the Westgate store. He was a 50-year member of All Saints Catholic Church and the former St. Mary Magdalene Church. He remained active during his retirement, meeting daily with his friends, bowling, taking care of his dog and being active in the Rossford American Legion Post 533, where he was past post commander. This past Memorial Day, he participated in the annual Rossford parade as the town’s oldest veteran. He is survived by his children, James (Trisha) Nycz, Joseph (Marilyn) Nycz and Judy Perry; grandchildren, Kelly (Jon) Bias, Andrew Nycz, Nick (Abby) Nycz, Michael Nycz, Jennifer (Kervin) Govender, Christine Nycz, Kimberly Perry, Rebecca Perry and William Perry; eight great-grandchildren and his special friend, Del Keller. Mr. Nycz was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; all of his siblings and his granddaughter, Lisa Nycz. American Legion and Scripture services were held June 22, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 23, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. STEPHEN JACOBS
Stephen R. Jacobs, 49, of Rossford, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on December 6, 1958, in Toledo, to Russell and Mildred (Stafford) Jacobs. He was a 1976 graduate of Rossford High School. Mr. Jacobs was employed with Modular Transportation as a truck driver for 10 years. He was a member of CedarCreek Church in Perrysburg. He enjoyed sports, especially Miami Dolphins football, NASCAR, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Drusilla Jacobs; children, Tory, Jeremy and Carrie Jacobs; mother, Mildred Jacobs; step-children, Carisa Barnard and Richard Stout; granddaughter, Juliana Smith, and 10 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Jacobs, and sister, Laura Jacobs. A memorial service will be held today, June 26, at 11 a.m., at CedarCreek Church, 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Lee Powell officiating. BONNIE MATERNI
Bonnie R. Materni, 58, of Rossford, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born on January 17, 1950, in Toledo, to Robert and Kathryn (LaVrar) Hollabaugh. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kerri), Timothy (Marlene) and Mathew (Christie) Materni, Lisa (Steve) Lang and Lynn (Dan) Schmenk; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Brian (Pat) Hollabaugh, and sister, Barbara (Lee) Marciniak. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Materni, and brother, William Hollabaugh. Marie Katherine (Len) Tucker, 90, of Rossford, died Friday, June 6, 2008. She was born on June 2, 1918, in Perrysburg, to Nicholas and Madelyn Len. She was a homemaker most of her life. When her youngest child was 7, she went into the workforce at Craftmaster Corp., eventually retired from there and went to work for her brother at his car dealership. She is survived by her children, Dan (Geri), Sandra Cammarn (Larry Ahlers), Steve, Ron (Ida) and Lisa Slinkard (Stacey); 19 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren; eight greatgreat- grandchildren, and brother, James Len. She was preceded in death by her husband James; two sisters; one brother; daughter, Barbara Ann; son, James Jr.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Celebration of Life was held June 8, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A graveside service was held June 9, at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Mary Etta (Potter) Fruchey, 72, of Rossford, died recently. She was a member of the Word of Truth Christian Center of Bowling Green. She worked as a nurse assistant for 24 years, retiring in 2005 from Harborside of Swanton. She is survived by her children, Gaya Heisinger of Lebanon, Oregon, Glenna (Jim) Takats of Rossford, Gloria Fruchey of Rossford, Gary (Sandra) Fruchey of Woodville, Ohio, and Jason Meadows of Toledo; brother, Henry (Janet) Potter of Spokane Washington; grandchildren, Donna (James) Swartz, Lucas (Misti) Shiffert, Tyler and Steven Takats, Ian, Nicolas and Celia Fruchey, and four great grandchildren. FRANK NEMECEK
Frank J. Nemecek, 82, of Oregon, died June 5, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born June 2, 1926, to Frank and Theresa (Krizan) Nemecek. A 1944 graduate of Waite High School, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. After his military service, he worked in construction until joining the Toledo Police Department in 1956, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of FOP Lodge No. 40 and the American Legion Toledo Post 512. He is survived by his sister, Alice (Bill) Kubista of Rossford, and several nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley and Veno, and daughter, Kristine. Visitation and funeral services were held June 9, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. JULIE PEER
Julie Ann Peer, 64, of Oregon, Ohio, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on August 31, 1943, in Toledo, to William and Harriet Browning. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1961, and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Peer II, in 1964. She spent many years working as an administrative assistant for Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co., Teledyne, and the Oregon School Board. She enjoyed baking, gardening, taking day trips with her husband and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Peer; children, Larisa (Mark) Pauken, Jackie (Jeff) Pappas, John (Becky) Peer and Anne (Shane) Seiple; grandchildren, Andrew, Curtis, Simon, Abigail, Nathan, Chloe, Connor, Caden, and Calli; sister, Patty (Don) Kost; sisters-in-law, Pat (Herb) Young, Celia (Don) Jacobs; niece, Lisa, and nephews, Josh, Herb, Ron and Randy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lillian. A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 29, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. ZELDA JARVIS
Zelda Georgia (Mather) Jarvis, 88, of Rossford, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the home of her son, Gary. She was born May 4, 1920, in Rossford, to Albert and Myrtle (Frick) Baker. She was married to Barton Mather Jr., for 15 years, whom she met and enjoyed dancing with at the Trianon Ball Room. She later married Daniel Jarvis. They were married 40 years and spent 38 years living in Jensen Beach, Florida. She enjoyed flower gardening in Jensen Beach and Rossford. She is survived by her sons, Barton (Carol),William (Linda) and Gary (Carol) Mather; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Ada Tinney, Cora Volant and Dora Hart. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Barton Mather Jr.; second husband, Daniel Jarvis; eldest sister, Mabel Hahn and her youngest sister, Bernice Roach. A Celebration of Life service was held May 14, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with the Rev. Dave Thompson officiating. Burial was private at Toledo Memorial Park. WALTER RUCH
Walter J. Ruch, 54, of Perrysburg, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on August 19, 1953, to Richard and Geneieve (Snyder) Ruch in Toledo. He was a graduate of Sylvania High School, where he excelled in track. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having spent time in Europe in the early 1970s. He was employed with Old Castle Glass in Perrysburg as a glassworker. He enjoyed watching and reading about sports, especially Nascar. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sandy (Hutchinson) Ruch; mother, Geneieve Ruch; children, Lisa (Steve) Fortner of Defiance, and Amy (Christopher) Giordano of Toledo; grandchildren, Matthew Fortner, Daniel Fortner, Sarah Fortner, Samantha Giordano and Michael Giordano; siblings, Rich Ruch of Virginia; Ron Ruch, Dave Ruch, Jim Ruch and Carol Del Signore and their families, all of Toledo. SHARON BUCKENBERGER
Sharon Kay Buckenberger, 62, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born on November 1, 1945, in Toledo, to George and Mary (Kish) Buckenberger. She was a 1963 graduate of Perrysburg High School. After graduation, she moved to California where she resided and owned her own candy business for many years prior to returning to Ohio. She enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks and Snoopy memorabilia, playing softball, golf and other sports. She also enjoyed attending craft fairs and garage sales. Ms. Buckenberger is survived by her sisters, Donna McCally and Betty Finch, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Philip Buckenberger. The family is honoring her request to have her cremains returned to California. A memorial service is being arranged by her closest friends in California, to celebrate her active 40 years of life on the West Coast. DONNA OWEN

Donna B. Owen, 78, of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Defiance, Ohio, on April 19, 1930, the only child of Victor and Kathryn (Ort) Smith. She was one of 11 graduates in 1948 of Ney High School. She worked for Owens Illinois in the accounting department for 28 years, retiring at age 55. During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending the Golden Emblem Club functions, which is the retirement group of O-I. She also enjoyed exercising at the Rossford Community Recreation Center and traveling. One of her five trips to Hawaii was a celebration of her 65th birthday, which she shared with her sons and their wives. She served as treasurer for her condominium board of Three Meadows. Ms. Owen is survived by her son, Tim (Kristie) Owen and their children, Tony, Jeff and Holly; daughter-inlaw, Suzanne Owen, and her children, Alexa, Adrienne (Don), Noelle and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Owen. Services were private. Burial was in Ney Cemetery, Defiance. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. AUDREY ALLGIER
Audrey C. Allgier, 68, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Bowling Green Manor. On January 31, 1940, she was born in Medina, New York, to Clifford and Agatha (Davis) Allport. She was an inventory controller for the former Photonics Corp, where she retired in 2002. She enjoyed playing card games and spending time with her family. Ms. Allgier enjoyed animals especially cats, dogs and birds. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Doug) Gillen of Toledo; son, Paul (Laurie) Baker of Genoa, Ohio; grandchildren, Tarra Headley, Andrew Brown, Joshua Baker, Christina Baker; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Tamara, Jackalynn, Savanna, Jeanann; sisters, Barbara Newbould of Abion, New York, Margaret Brundage of Watertown, New York. John N. Andryc, 84, of Perrysburg, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on July 10, 1923, to Nicholas and Mary (Zawojski) Andryc in Rossford, Ohio. He married Agnes Hencher on November 3, 1951. He was employed with Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company for 40 years, where he retired in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Rossford Eagles and All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and in his younger years was an avid bowler and enjoyed sports. Mr. Andryc is survived by his sisters, Ann (Jim) Boos, Helen (Loren) Eckhart, Rose (Jim) West and Dorothy (John) Belegrin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, in 2003; brothers, Anthony and Nicholas Andryc, and sister, Julie Ramsbottom. Adarene “Ada” Middleton, 64, of Perrysburg Township, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in her home. She was born on July 5, 1943, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to Jim and Cora Partin. She spent many years working in a factory and as a caregiver, but her true life’s work was raising five children as a single parent. She is survived by her children, Roy and Trisha Middleton, Tim and Laura Middleton, Roland and Kim Middleton, Patricia Middleton and Scott and Kris Middleton; grandchildren, Chad, Brent (Jamie), Katie (Kyle), Joshua, Justin, Ashley, Skyler, Stephen, Brandon, Jacob, Lucas and Nicholas Middleton; brothers, Lee Roy and Agatha Partin, J.B. and Carol Partin, Estle and Eva Lee Partin, Daniel and June Partin. ANNA MARTIS
Anna (Duricek) Martis, 95, of Rossford, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Harborside of Perrysburg, where she was a resident for 12 years. She was born on July 23, 1912, to Nicholas “Mike” and Mary (Kolumbus) Duricek in Biloxi, Mississippi. Her family moved to Rossford in 1915. She married Steve Martis, on June 30, 1931. Ms. Martis volunteered for many years at her church, Sts. Cyril and Methodius (later the unified All Saints), where she was active in the Altar Sodality and shared her talents in the parish kitchen. She took pride in her Slovak heritage, passing down holiday traditions and sharing homemade kolaeky, nut rolls and other delicacies with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Joseph) Andryc and James (Gerri) Martis, both of Rossford; grandchildren, Philip (Linda) Andryc, Joel (Nancy) Andryc, David (Mary) Andryc, Cheryl (Mark) Cassin, James (Leslie) Martis, Daniel (Rachel) Martis and Kathleen (Chad) Schliesser; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Sheridan of Lancaster, Ohio, and Irene Pastorek of Rossford; sisters-in-law, Barbara Duricek and Ann Duricek, both of Rossford; brother-in-law, Joseph Martis of Perrysburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, in 1982; her brothers, Peter, Joseph, Anthony, Cyril and Charles, and sisters, Margaret Kilis and Mary. DOROTHY RYBICKI
Dorothy A. (Miller) Rybicki, 94, of Plymouth, Michigan, and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Plymouth Inn Assisted Care Living in Plymouth. She was born in Toledo, on September 11, 1913, to Joseph and Emma (Michaelis) Miller. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. In 1948, she married Casper Rybicki. She worked as a clerical supervisor for Rossford ordnance for 15 years and had owned various apartment complexes and a motel while living in Fort Lauderdale. She is survived by her nephew, Robert (Dorothy) Welch of Perrysburg; greatnephews, Robert (Sally Straits) Welch, M.D. of Canton, Michigan, John (Sally) Welch of Perrysburg, and Matthew (Brenda) Welch of Perrysburg; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews, and eight greatgreat- great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper, in 1970. Friends will be received on Friday, April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Witzler- Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. Mary Ellen Warchol, 85, of Toledo, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on April 5, 1923, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Dale and Esther (Armitage) Gallier. She was a 1942 graduate of Rossford High School, where she was one of the first majorettes. She married Louis Warchol in 1942. Ms. Warchol worked as a telephone operator for the Toledo Hospital for many years. She enjoyed sewing, making dolls and baking for family and friends. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bob) Chromik and William Warchol; grandchildren, Bobby Chromik, Carolyn (Rob) Sellers, Christie Warchol, Eric Warchol and Katie Warchol; sisters-in-law, Maggie Warchol and Nedra Gallier; brother-in-law, Marcus Mack, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis. Funeral services were held April 18, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with the Rev. Merlin Jacobs of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. FRANK KOVACS
Frank J. Kovacs, 86, of Rossford, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Toledo center. He was born on September 19, 1921, in Toledo, to John and Teresa (Molnar) Kovacs. A decorated Army veteran, he served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. After serving his country, he married Frances Banaszak on April 19, 1947.Mr. Kovacs was a plumber for many years and retired from Local 50. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW Post 4906 and a member of the Ross-ford Seniors. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and taking occasional casino trips.He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Robert) Cutcher, Annette (Kenneth) Morgan, Michael (Patricia) Kovacs and Andrew (Pamela) Kovacs; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Frances, on May 20, 1997.VFW Post 4906 conducted services on April 13, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 14, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Opal G. (Schaller) Biniker, 90, of Perrysburg, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the Manor At Perrysburg. She was born in Perrysburg Township to Ernest and Gertrude (Kindevater) Schaller. She married George Biniker on March 15, 1939, in Toledo. HELEN HUSSAR
Helen J. Hussar, 89, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare of Perrysburg. She was born on March 23, 1919, in Rossford, to Val and Petronella (Komisarz) Folcik.She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Hussar; sons, Ron (Diane) Hussar and Jeff (Patty) Hussar; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jackie South and Donna Snyder; sister, Florence Neagley, and granddaughter, Tracey South.Friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road today, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, April 11, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 9 p.m., where a Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, where the family will greet visitors beginning at 9:30a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.

MICHELLE WISHON
Michelle R. Wishon, 41, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Toledo Hospital. She was born on May 25, 1966, to Melvin and Pamela (Bell) Wishon, in Toledo. She attended Owens Technical College’s nursing program and was employed as a nurse at the Toledo Hospital in the coronary care step-down unit. She was an artist, enjoyed playing pool and was in two leagues. She was a former contestant on the Cash Explosion Game Show.Ms. Wishon is survived by her children, Michael (Tiffany) Kuhnle, Rachel Kuhnle and Kelly Kuhnle; grandchildren, Andrew Kuhnle and Clayton Kuhn-le; mother, Pamela (James Clark Sr.) Wishon; fiance, Mike Zomkowski; sister, Melissa Wishon; brothers, Martin (Brenda) Wishon, Melvin (Dionna) Wishon Jr. and Matthew (Laura) Wishon; grandmother, Eileen Bell, and step-mother, Nancy Wishon. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Wishon Sr.; sister, Monique Wishon; granddaughter, Kylie Kuhn-le, and nephew, Jeffrey Wishon.Funeral services will be held today, April 10, at 11 a.m., in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Northwest Ohio Kidney Foundation.

HARRY WHALEY

Harry C. “The Whaler” Whaley, 84, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, March 29, 2008. He was born on September 10, 1923, in Oak-dale, Tennessee, to David and Clara (Koontz) Whaley. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant serving in the Pacific during World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a conductor and brakeman for B&O Railroad, Chessie and CSX for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Whaley was a member of Moose Lodge of Oak Harbor and the DAV in Toledo. He also was an active member of UTU Local 1816, where he held many offices. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Mr. Whaley is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anna Mae (Gabele) Whaley; children, Larry Whaley of Perrysburg, Gloria (Robert) Walter of Perrysburg and Barbara (Dan) Pindoley of Waterville; step-children, Ken (Tammy) Blair of Waterville, Dennis (Becky) Blair of Rossford, Teresa (Mark) Schiess of California and Doug (Stephanie) Blair of Toledo; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Warren (Mary Ann) of Florida, and Wayne Whaley of North Carolina, and sister, Peggy Dowell of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by 13 siblings, and great-grandson, Dawson.Funeral services were held on April 1, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with Deacon Larry Tiefenbach officiating. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery, where military honors were conducted by Northwood VFW Post 2984.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. Rose Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

JOHN HUTCHEK

John P. Hutchek, 74, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was a 1952 graduate of Perrysburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He worked for the Rossford Ordnance Depot, Erie Ordnance Depot and the Detroit Arsenal, where he was in charge of inventory, retiring in 1978. Mr. Hutchek enjoyed fishing for perch on Lake Erie and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians baseball team.He is survived by his sister Joanne (Jim) Bucklew of Perrysburg; nephew, Todd Hoste; niece, Kim (Larry) Rosinski; cousins, Molly (Gene) Jakubec and Frank (Darlene) Vavrik.A graveside service was held March 27, at Fort Meigs Cemetery.The family suggests that tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio.

LUDMILA “MILLIE” HEBAN

Ludmila “Millie” (Polakovic) Heban, 88, of Rossford, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, under the care of Hospice. She was born on November 14, 1919, to John and Anna (Surik) Polakovic in Cleveland, Ohio. Both of her parents were from Czechoslovakia, and she was born a first-generation American. She is remembered for her frequent and long walks through Rossford and always being ready for a friendly conversation or story.A graduate of Rossford High School, Mrs. Heban spent her career sharing her talents for the culinary arts and chatting with people working at Dr. Henry Green’s dentist office, Schroder’s Florist, The A&P grocery store and as a cook at Owens-Illinois. She also gave years of her time and talents as a volunteer at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, spending hours of care making sure the alter looked “just so.” Her dedication to St. Cyril’s and later the unified All Saints, was something she shared with her husband, John Heban. They were married on June 2, 1945.She is survived by her sons, John “Janko” Heban and Greg “ Moose” (Debbie) Heban, both of Ross-ford; grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Steer, Carrie Heban, Amanda Heban, Abigail Heban, Gregory Heban and Andrea Heban; great-grandchildren, Hunter Heban, Aspen Goss and granddaughter, Heban.A Mass of Chr Burial was held Apr All Saints Catholic Churc with The Very Re Joseph Steinbauer of ing. SONKA "SONNY" BARTALSKY
Sonka "Sonny" Bartalsky, 85, of Northwood, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Parkcliffe Community Home. She was born in Lovecteh, Bulgaria, on February 25, 1923, to John and Donka (Evanova) Kanoff. She worked many years at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. in Rossford, where she retired in 1977. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and family around the country, and jaunts to Marr Lake in Onstead, Michigan, where she owned a cottage for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Mary, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bartalsky, in 1969, and her good friend, Joe Janecki.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 7, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford.

NORMAN ROOD
Norman Jack Rood, 78, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 18, 2008, at his home in Bradenton, Florida. He was born October 27, 1929, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Lloyd and Gertrude (Garno) Rood. He was a graduate of Bowling Green High School. Mr. Rood was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Before his retirement, he was chairman of the board, treasurer and chief executive officer of the Suburban Natural Gas Company. He spent his entire business life in the operation and management of the Suburban Natural Gas Company, formally Consumers Natural Gas Company, and affiliated enterprises. Simultaneously he served in the management of the Cygnet Savings Bank within which he rose to the position of president and chief executive officer prior to its sale to TrustCorp of Toledo, in 1973. He served on the board of trustees of Bowling Green State University.
He was an active participant in various business organizations, civic and charitable endeavors. He also served as president of the Wood County Democratic Club. He was a member of the Brandywine Country Club, Belmont Country Club, Rosedale Country Club, the Maumee Elks, Rockwell Springs Trout Club, Chaine Des Rotisseurs and St. Rose Catholic Church. His interests included golf, fishing, traveling, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Bryan Rood of Powell, Ohio; daughter, Laura Rood of Brandon, Florida; brothers, James Rood of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Stan Rood of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Nola Shiets of Bowling Green, and brother-in-law, Joe Barker of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalyn Schwyn; brothers, Robert and Don Rood, and sister, Genelle Torok.
Scripture services were held February 25, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Prayers were recited February 26, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to an organization of the donor's choice.

RONALD SHELDRICK
Ronald C. Sheldrick, 85, died March 4, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born December 6, 1922, in Haskins, Ohio, to R. Roy and Bernice (Ollige) Sheldrick. He was a 1942 graduate of Tontogany High School, where he played basketball and ran track.
Mr. Sheldrick was an U.S. Army veteran with the 433rd Ordnance Motor Vehicle Assembly, serving during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was stationed overseas for 24 months. He married Margaret Wolf in Zoar Lutheran Church on June 17, 1950.
He was a lifelong farmer and became a farm drainage contractor. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, a member of the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers Association, where he served as secretary/treasurer and a director for many years. He also served as secretary/treasurer for the Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association and was a member of National Land Improvement Contractors Association, Power of Yesteryear Antique Tractor Club, where he served on the board of directors from 1988 to 1996. He belonged to the state and national antique tractor associations. He also served as a Perrysburg Township Trustee, past President of Wood County Trustees and Clerks Association, Fort Meigs Cemetery Board, where he designed the layout for the new addition to the cemetery and was on the board of directors for Luckey Farmers Inc.
He belonged to the Wood County Community Improvement Corporation and was on the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committee for 17 years with Wood County, and also served on the Township committee. Mr. Sheldrick also was past president of the Wood County Shrine. He belonged to many other organizations, including the Phoenix Lodge #123 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, and Zenobia Lancers. He also was one of the founding members of the Five Point Steam Threshers Club.
He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball for Carl Schmidt teams, bowling and fishing, and collecting, refinishing and pulling antique tractors, which led to many of the organizations in which he participated. He also enjoyed working at tractor pulls.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Marilyn "Susie" (Clyde) Bame of Perrysburg, Patricia (William) Swope of Perrysburg, Daniel (Amy) Sheldrick of Bowling Green, Nancy (Nick) Wilson of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Christina (James) Kieper, Jennifer Bame, Jeffrey Bame, Abigail and Jacob Sheldrick; step-grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Wilson, Greg (Sarah) Bell, Jason Bell, Ryan and Logan Wilson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cassi and Jordan Kieper and Andrew McKay; sisters, Dorothy (Gerald) Cromley and Lois Heinze; brother, Richard (Donelda) Sheldrick; sisters-in-law, Shirley Sheldrick and Dorothy Bruning; brothers- in-law, Harold (Alma) Wolf and Arnold (Betty) Wolf; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Dody Gurtzweiler and Roger Williams. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Phillips Myers, and brother, Thomas Sheldrick.
A Masonic service was held March 7, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Funeral services were held March 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, with the Rev. Daniel Beaudoin officiating. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to St. John's Lutheran Church, Shriner's Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

LOUIS LEESTINSKY
Louis Leestinsky, 87, of rural Perrysburg, died February 24, 2008, at Heartland of Perrysburg. He was a graduate of Lake High School, Ohio State University, and Harvard Law School. He was employed by several companies throughout the United States, retiring from R&D Electrical, Chicago, Illinois, in 1962.
Mr. Leestinsky is survived by his sisters, Betty Lecking of Dayton, Ohio, and Margaret (Robert) Johnson; brother, James Nehay, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. John Nehay.
There was no visitation, as requested, and private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford.

THEODORE DRAUS

THEODORE DRAUS
Theodore "Ted" Draus, 81, of Rossford, died February 20, 2008. He was born January 15, 1927, in Budy, Poland, to Thomas and Ann Draus. He married Sonja Cygan in Germany, on October 21, 1950, and came to the United States in January 1952. They settled in Rossford, where Mr. Draus worked for the General Mills grain elevator until it closed in 1960. He then started working for the Jeep Corporation and retired in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
He was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Bears and his grandchildren's sports teams. He enjoyed spending time with family and at his daughter's cottage in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Mr. Draus is survived by his daughters, Marian (Ron) Emch of Maumee, Sandy (Bill) Reiter of Whitehouse, Ohio, and son, Thomas (fiancee Donna) of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Michael and Emily Emch, Nathan, Jacob and Luke Reiter and Nolan and Wesley Draus; special neighbors, Chip and Christie Tokar and their sons, Jacob, Joey and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sonja, and brother, Walter.
Funeral services were held February 27, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home, Rossford. Burial was private.

AGNES PASTOREK

AGNES PASTOREK
Agnes Ann Pastorek, 90, of Rossford, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008. She was born on April 28, 1917, in Rossford, to Andrew and Rose (Mackovic) Minarcin. She lived her entire life in Rossford and graduated from Rossford High School in 1935. After high school, she went to work at the Wood County Courthouse, beginning her life-long involvement with politics. She was one of the first women to own an automobile in Rossford. She enjoyed telling tales of carpooling between Rossford and Bowling Green.
She began as a clerk, and progressed to secretary of the Democratic Party Executive Committee and an appointment as Receiving Presiding Judge of Election for the Village of Rossford. This aspect of her life culminated when she was named Democratic Woman of the Year in 1990. She also was an officer of the Slovak Gymnastics Union Sokol 248.
She married Anthony Pastorek in 1946 shortly after he returned from World War II. They raised three children, enjoyed extensive traveling with family and friends and were actively involved in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, the Altar Sodality, helping out and playing at church bingos, cooking lunches for the church school children, and helping to organize church festivals.
Ms. Pastorek is survived by her children, Robert (Lana) Pastorek of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Rosemary (Barry) Godin of Florida; grandchildren, Anthony Pastorek, Ian Pastorek, and Charles Warren; great-grandchildren, Hayden Pastorek and Christian Warren; brother, Thomas Minarcin, and sister, Rose Konesky. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Anthony, in 1999; daughter, Charlene Pastorek; sisters, Cecilia Patton and Ethel Ziemianski.
A Scripture Service was held March 2, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 3, in All Saints Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
