ATHANASEA “AGNES” LEWANDOWSKI
Athanasea “Agnes” Lewandowski, 88, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Kuhar, where she had resided for more than two years. She was born in Toledo, on October 28, 1919, to Nicholas and Mae Elizabeth Sterger. She married Daniel Harry Lewandowski on October 18, 1938. She was employed as a waitress for 28 years at the Northwood Inn and Villa restaurants. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed participating at various food workshops in preparation for the annual Greek American Festival. She also was active with the Philoptochos Society and received the Mother of the Year Award from the society in May 2002. Ms. Lewandowski is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Michael) Kuhar and Susan (Fredrick) Clement; grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Kuhar, Deborrah (Chris) Trznadel, Blacque Clement, Nicole (Michael) Kane, and Bradley (Rose) Clement; five great-grandchildren; sister, Crystal “Margie” Rogers; brother, Stanley Sterger, and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 1979. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, George, Elmer, Marie, Christopher and Thomas, and brotherin- law, John Rogers. Visitation was held August 17, at the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc., with Trisagion Prayers. Funeral services were held August 18, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, with the Rev. DOROTHY PITZEN
Dorothy A. (Thomsen) Pitzen, 81, of the Point/Shoreland Community), died Tuesday, August 12, 2008. She was born in Toledo, in 1927, to James and Christina (Lyng) Thomsen. She worked for 21 years in the warehouse for the former Lanes Drug Store, where she retired in 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Ivy (Dorman) Peterson; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen, and special adopted daughter and son-in-law, Charlene (Bill) Pandi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace “Wally” Pitzen in 2007. She also was preceded in death by her son, Edward; three brothers and one sister. Winifred A. Johnson, 99, of Toledo, died Sunday, August 17, 2008, in the Glendale Assisted Living Center. She worked as a food supervisor for the Toledo Mental Health Center for 15 years, retiring in 1974. She also was a member of Northpoint Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Feehan and June (Larry) Jackson; grandchildren, Dawn (Larry) Scott and James (Barbara) Feehan; greatgrandchildren, Michael Saam, Jennifer (Jerry) Peabody, Matthew Feehan, Nicole and Megan Scott, and great-great-granddaughter; Jaylin Peabody. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1967, and brother and sister- in-law, Willis and Alice Harman. Funeral services were held August 22, in the David R. DONALD LAYTART
Donald K. Laytart, 81, of Toledo, died Friday, August 15, 2008. He was born in Toledo, to Arthur and Laura (Strub) Laytart. Mr. Laytart was a welder/machinist for more than 40 years for various railroads; Toledo Terminal, Detroit Toledo Shore Line Railroad and Canadian National Railroad, retiring in 1989. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a VFW lifetime member at large. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and working crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed being outdoors. Mr. Laytart is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marjorie (Slates); children, Deborah (Dan) Russell, Jerry (Monica) Lohmeyer, Donald Laytart, II, Tina (Jim) Fisher, Marguerite (Dave) Watkins, and Jill (Bill) Trendel; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. JOAN ASHMAN
Joan Helene Ashman died August 8, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Joan was born May 11, 1931, to Stephen and Kathryn Honisko. On October 21, 1950, she married Harry Ashman, Jr. She was employed at Libbey Glass for 30 years. After her retirement in 1989, she worked for several years as a product demonstrator at several stores, including Kroger’s, where she enjoyed meeting and visiting with all the customers. She was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a past president of the Woman’s Altar Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Golden Emblem Club and Board One of the Democratic Party. Ms. Ashman enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to Las Vegas with her husband, meeting with her many friends and cheering on her favorite teams, the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines. She is survived by her sons, Tom, Ron (Kim), Jim (Sharon), Steve (Jenny); daughters, Suzan, Nancy (Joe) Hendricks and Kathy (Rob) Amborski; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Don (Gail) Honisko; sister and brother-in-law, John and Mary Ann Wingate, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on July 2, 2008. A Scripture Service was held August 11, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home. GAIL BUTLER
Gail D. Butler, 49, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 24, 2008, in her home. She enjoyed reading and crafting, and spending time with people, especially her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her father, Arthur Butler; brother, Curt (Brenda) Butler; sisters, Jane (Rick Hemple) Schill and Sally Butler; two nieces; four nephews, and many extended family members. GRACE NELSON
Grace I. Nelson died in her home in Fort Myers, Florida, on July 21, 2008. She was born in Long Island, New York, on March 9, 1935, to Theodore and Ethel Hermann. In 1946, her family relocated to Toledo. She then worked as a commercial artist at Libbey Glass, where she met her future husband, Robert Nelson. In her spare time, Grace volunteered for the Woodward Band and the Board of Elections for Toledo and Fort Myers for more than 30 years. She moved to Fort Myers in 2001, where she held the title of activities director of Royal Palm Village. She was an illustrator of children’s books for Two Sisters Publishing Company which she and her sister, Vivian Cook, founded. In search for inspiration on their last book together, the sisters embarked on a trip to Alaska. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Hawaiian Islands. Ms. Nelson is survived by her children, Michael (Robin) Nelson, Valorie (Brian Mahas) Archibeque, Steven (Ann) Nelson and Karen Nelson; grandchildren, Amanda (Allen) Encalado, Katie, Krista and Keith Langlois, Sean and Taylor Nelson; sister, Vivian (David) Cook, and former son-in-law, Keith Langlois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1994. Visitation was held Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the David R. NORMAN SYDNOR
Norman D. Sydnor, 75, died July 16, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. A native of Troy, Missouri, he moved to Toledo in the early 1960s. He served in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged. Mr. Sydnor retired from Ford Motor Company in 1999 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Southern Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Sara Sydnor; daughter, Barbara Jordan; son, Norman Sydnor Jr., both of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Allen (Meme) Sydnor; stepsons, Andre of St. Louis, James and Myron Fitchpatric; stepdaughters, Tonya Mershon of Chicago, Illinois, Carla Stokes and Michelle Nelson, 19 grandchildren, special grandchild, Mylisha Fitchpatric; nieces, Karol Crockrell, Susan Sydnor of St. Louis, Vanessa Sydnor, Barbara Luckett, Mercedes Perryman; special niece, Maxine Moore; nephew, Don Sydnor; special cousin, Judi (Tim) Norris of Ecorse, Michigan; sisters-in law, Alleyn Sydnor, Charlesena Smith and Betty Link, and many other relatives. Charles E. Tandler, 78, of the Point/Shoreland community, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008. In 1929, he was born in Toledo, to Charles and Edna (Bohnsack) Tandler. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Tandler worked as a tool and die maker for Champion Spark Plug for 25 years, where he retired in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Beekman); children, Rick (Joanne), Steve Sr. (Linda), Mark (Valerie), and Russell (Katina) Tandler, Debbie (Rich) Wilkinson, David Venzke, Diana (Jerry) Porach, and Doris (Terry) Hansen; 28 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren, and sister, Esther Hewitt. Harold E. Cramer, 80, of Toledo, died in St. Vincent Medical Center on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. He was born to Ray and Mary Alice Nye. Mr. Cramer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Swing Fevers Square Dancing Club for many years. He also enjoyed photography and home woodworking projects. He is survived by his children, Debra (David) Koster, Connie (Mark) Scheiber, Sandra (William) Gunkel and Tina (John) Kirtos; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita (Clarence) Dye and Viola Grochowski; brother, Gene (Helen) Cramer, and sister-in-law, Florence Crowley. Patricia T. Siwajek, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Friday, July 11, 2008. She was born in Toledo, to James and Frances (Wetzel) Wozniak. She worked for more than 40 years for Key Bank within a variety of departments. She and her husband Ronald enjoyed many adventures while traveling together. After his death, she continued to travel with her friends. She is survived by her children, James (Jean), Timothy (Shellie) and Patricia Siwajek; sister, Doris (Howard) Rudey; grandchildren, Cindy (Matt) Steffin and Michael Siwajek; greatgrandchildren, Samantha Siwajek, Allison and David Steffin. HARRY ASHMAN JR.
Harry E. Ashman, Jr., age 80, a long-time Point Place resident, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Toledo Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1927, to Alma and Harry Ashman Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran. For 30 years, he was employed as senior buyer for the Dana Corporation until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Ashman was an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for more than 50 years. He also was a former treasurer for Board One of the Democratic Party, a member of the Libbey Golden Emblem Club and an active member of VFW Post 3265. He spent many vacations in Las Vegas with his wife of 58 years, Joan. He enjoyed many sports, especially golf, and will be remembered as a loyal Maize and Blue Michigan man and Detroit Tiger fan. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Tom, Ron (Kim), Jim (Sharon), and Steve (Jenny); daughters, Suzan, Nancy (Joe) Hendricks, and Kathy (Rob) Amborski; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (John) Wingate; brother-inlaw, Don (Gail) Honisko, and many nieces and nephews. WAYNE LEWIS
Wayne E. Lewis, 74, of Toledo, died July 4, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born September 24, 1933, in Toledo, to Gerald and Rose (Barron) Lewis. He met Shirley Leach at a skating rink in downtown Toledo and they were married one year later on January 14, 1956, in Toledo. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 37 years. He enjoyed playing softball, horseshoes, ping pong and bowling. After retiring from the railroad, Mr. Lewis worked for National Car Rental for the past 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, William (Karin) Lewis; Wayne Lewis; Dawn Lewis and Thomas (Leslie) Lewis, all of Toledo, five grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kate Huffer, and brother, Jerry Lewis. Funeral services were held July 9, in the David R. Homer Edward Rogers, Jr., formerly of Toledo, died in the Fulton County Health Center on Thursday, June 26, 2008. He worked as a plumber’s helper and enjoyed his hobby of model airplanes. He was a member of the Weak Signals and the Flying Tiger Model airplane clubs. Mr. Rogers is survived by his children; Thomas (Jennifer) Rogers, Roberta Shiffler, Elizabeth Rogers, three grandchildren, mother, Erma Rogers; siblings; Sharon (Dennis) Farmer, Barbara (Bill) Sparling, Vicki (Steve) George, James (Elizabeth) Rogers and Jerry (Annette) Rogers. John R. Danyi, 64, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Sunday, July 6, 2008. He was born in Toledo, to Joseph and Theresa (Szabo) Danyi. Mr. Danyi was an electrician for 39 years, working out of Local 8 IBEW and more recently, Lake Erie Electric in Bowling Green, Ohio. He enjoyed gardening with his wife, Mary, and metal detecting for lost treasures. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Lanning); children, Richard (Jennie) and Vincent (Stephanie) Danyi, and Jacquelyn (William) Lucius; grandchildren, Brittany, Bailee, Ariel, Jonathan, Alexis, Alyssa, Anya and R.J.; brothers, Joseph (Marti) and Robert Danyi; sister, Dolores Schroder, and several nieces and nephews. Nancy J. (Barger) Mieczkowski-Briggs, 63, of the Point/Shoreland Community died Monday, June 23, 2008. She was born to Robert and Jeanne (Snyder) Barger in Norman, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1945. She was a sales representative for Estee Lauder and Revlon. She also was a playground monitor at Fort Meigs Elementary School, co-leader of Girl Scout Troop #798, and a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Troy-Webster Post #240. She was involved in many organizations which allowed her to share her gift of mercy and compassion with others. She was a model for Walbridge and Bellg Agency during the 1970s. She enjoyed photography, listening to country music, travel and boating on Lake Erie. She is survived by her children, Kim (Terry) Lanning and Kevin (Kathy) Mieczkowski; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jason), Kyle, and Kelsie; great-granddaughter, Kalie; parents; nieces and nephews, Grant (Beth), Sandra, and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Grohowski; granddaughter, Kayla Mieczkowski; and her nephew, Stanley Grohowski. A Scripture Service was held June 26, at the David R. HOWARD BOGDANSKI
Howard R. Bogdanski, 76, of the Point and Shoreland Community, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at his home. He worked for COSCO Graphics for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1950. Mr. Bogdanski was a member of the former Ambassador Baton and Drum Corps and played in the PAC Band for 50 years. He was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Catholic church, where he served as an usher. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of VFW Post 3265. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, and Notre Dame football. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and tending to his yard. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose Ann; son, Bruce Bogdanski; daughters, Luann Bogdanski and Diane (Daryl Lukas) Jones; grandchildren, Delaney and Alex, and sister, Gloria Emerson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. VFW services were held June 25, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home. Catherine E. Eisnor of Point Place, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Harborside of Point Place nursing home. She was born in Ontario, Canada, on March 5, 1912, to John and Alma Eagan. She retired from Tiedke’s as a security guard. She enjoyed people and animals. Ms. Eisnor is survived by her granddaughter, Shannan (Richard) Schultz, and great-grandson, Dan Schultz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eisnor; daughter, Dorothy (Jack) Schultz; sisters, Irene and Laura William, and grandson, Garry Watt. A small service will be held at a later date. NANCY NEWMAN
Nancy Newman, 59, formerly from Toledo, died Friday, June 6, 2008. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on September 25, 1948, to David and Lucille (Large) Newman. She moved to Toledo, with her family as a child. She graduated from Libbey High School in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Forrey, and they had three daughters. She worked as a physical therapy aide at the Toledo Hospital for 17 years. While in Toledo, she enjoyed playing softball and going to the family cottage on the Maumee River. She also enjoyed helping take care of her first grandchild, Brooke. In 1997, she moved to San Diego, California, to be near her daughters and granddaughter, where she lived for 11 years and continued to work as a physical therapy assistant. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and having “beach days” in Ocean Beach. She is survived by her daughters, Nanette (Scott) Curley, Cindy Forrey, and Julie Forrey; grandchildren, Brooke Wiewiora, Riley and Cooper Curley; siblings, David (Dee) Newman, Gary (Beth) Newman, Kathy Newman, Sandra (Dave) Matney and Andrew (Carol) Newman; brotherin- law, Vince Mills, and 10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Forrey; parents, and her sister, Patricia Mills. Memorial visitation was held June 21, at the David R. Joseph P. Grzybowski, 73, of Point Place, died Saturday, May 31, 2008. He was born in 1935, to Alex and Stella (Czerwinski) Grzybowski. He worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford as a glassworker for 30 years, where he retired in 1985. He belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Mr. Grzybowski enjoyed playing his clarinet for family and friends, golfing and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally (Williams); daughter, Kim (Jim) Collins; granddaughters, Clarissa (Jim) Bayer and Amanda (Mark) Rothermich; great-granddaughter, Haily Catherine Bayer “Apple Head;” sisters-inlaw, Lorraine Cary, Mary Meyers and Sharon Williams; brothers-in-law, Jerry Williams and Jim Werner, and cousin, Sharon Slowikowski. RUSSELL VANDERHORST
Russell F. VanderHorst, 61, died May 30, 2008, in the University of Toledo Medical Center. A lifelong Point Place resident, he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. After his Navy service, he returned to Toledo, working at the GM Powertrain Plant (Chevy), Bricklayers Union Local #3, General Mills, and Rescue Crisis Services, retiring in 2005. Mr. VanderHorst was an avid fisherman, reader and chess player. He liked being on the computer. He was a ham radio operator “KC8TVV,” enjoyed astronomy, playing poker and was a junior league hockey coach in the 1970s. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley; children, Russell (Carolyn) VanderHorst, David Vander- Horst, Brian VanderHorst, Matthew (Christy Feeback) VanderHorst, Kimberly VanderHorst and Lisa (Mike) Laraby; grandchildren, Michael and Devin Laraby; mother, Barbara VanderHorst; brother, Larry (Pat) VanderHorst, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter “PeeWee” VanderHorst and brother, Martin Vander- Horst. Funeral services were held June 3, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc. Joyce A. Werner, 76, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008. She was born on June 15, 1931, in Toledo, to Ernest and Clarissa Williams. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and worked for Jobst Institute for more than 20 years, retiring when they closed. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Werner; sons, Richard (Karen Dubose), Michael (Tommie); daughters, Cathy (Rick) King, Cindy Christian, Carole (Tim) Abbeglen, Tina (Matthew) Cannon; grandchildren, Damian, Allison and Emily Kellner, Zach Werner, Karlie and Mikey Werner, Robin Estes, Jamie Carter, Nikki Westergaard, Nathan Christian, Kellie and Korey Abbeglen, Justin and Jacob Cannon; great-grandchildren, Paris, Madison and Zach Werner, Kayla, Mallerie and Cameron Estes; daughterin- law; Karen Werner; sisters, Lorraine Carey, Mary Meyers, Sally (Joe) Gryzbowski; brother, Jerry (Sharon) Williams; sistersin- law, Natalie Werner, Jane Werner; brother-in-law, John (Thelma) Werner, and many special nieces and nephews. Helen H. Snyder, 99, of Sylvania, Ohio, died Friday, May 23, 2008. She was born in Findlay, Ohio, in 1908, to Dey Paul and Jessie (Smith) Haley. She worked 30 years as a sales clerk for the former Lane’s Drug Company, where she retired in 1973. She was a member of River- Point Ministries United Methodist Church and a past member of Lotus Chapter No. 477 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Gene) Scanes and Daniel (Joella) Synder; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, James; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held May 28, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Elise L. Siegel, 93, formerly of Point Place, died Saturday, May 24, 2008. She was born in 1915, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Ernest and Elin (Sondberg) Widlund. She had worked for a total of 10 years; first, at the Toledo Police Department as a stenographer then transferring to the Water Reclamation Division of the City of Toledo, where she retired in 1974. She belonged to Salem Lutheran Church for 83 years, and to the former Swedish Lodge and Scandinavian Lodge. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, golfing and bowling. She is survived by her children, Brian (Jane) Siegel, James (Marcia) Siegel, and Gary (Jeannette) Siegel; grandchildren, Julie (Rick) Deal, Jill Siegel, Jennifer (Geremy) McConnell, and James Siegel; greatgrandson, Connor McConnell; sister-in-law, Betty Widlund, and cousin, Florence Brown. Robert “Bob” E. Eagan, 90, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Sunday, May 18, 2008. He was born in Logansport, Indiana, to Alfred and Gertrude (Roach) Eagan. He worked for Lee Williams Meat Market as the store manager/meat cutter; he started when they were first opened and retired in 1982. He served in World War II as a Navy Seebee in the 68th NCB. He was active at the American Legion Conn-Weissenberger Post #587 and the Point Place VWF #3265. He and his family attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mr. Eagan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty (Deinoerfer); children, John Eagan, and Debra (Jeff) Dudek; grandchildren, Nicholas and Katelyn Dudek, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Joseph, Paul and Jim Eagan, and sisters, Dorothy Sauers and Mary Grace Nix. A Scripture Service was held May 21, in the David R. Donald “Boom Boom” Grenier, 75, of the Point Place Community died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Heartland of Perrysburg. A tool and die maker for Doehler Jarvis Corporation for 36 years, he also worked for his son-in-law at Mallory Pattern Co. for more than 10 years. The son of Daniel and Margaret (Holmes) Grenier, he was born October 11, 1932, in Adrian, Michigan. On March 21, 1953, he married Marilyn Beallas in Ottawa Hills. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and the outdoors. He was a long time member of River View Yacht Club in Toledo. He is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Marilyn; children, Donald (Teresa) Grenier, Debbie (Ken) Nowaczyk, Barb (Al) Antoine; grandchildren, Karrie, Krista, Ashley, Crissy and Matt; nine greatgrandchildren; sister, Doris (Bill) Pylant, and brother, Dick (Cathy) Duve. Rose E. Chrzanowski, 92, died May 17, 2008, in her home. She was born in Blissfield, Michigan, to Joseph and Mary (Jurasek) Halubik on December 26, 1915. She worked 24 years in production for Electric Auto Lite. She had two monumental events in her life; she rode in a tree trimmer bucket (cherry picker) that took her 60 feet in the air; the other event was when she took her first ride on a motorcycle. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, in 1983; four sisters and three brothers. A Rosary Service was held May 20, in the David R. Robert “Bob” E. LaGrange, 85, of Point Place, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, while at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg Center. He was born in Toledo, to LaVerne and Bertha (Munson) LaGrange in 1923. He worked 40 years as an independent dispatcher for Interstate, Hennis, Spector, and retired from Freightways Trucking in 1989. He was a decorated World War II Army veteran; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars; World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a life member of Point Place VFW Post #3265, and American Legion Post #110. He was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Damascus/Collingwood Lodge No. 643 F&AM as well as a Shriner, and past member of the Scottish-Rite Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed oil paining, fishing and gardening. Mr. LaGrange is survived by his children, Randy (Cely) LaGrange of Wilmington, North Carolina and Renee (Kenny) Klinger of Trout Creek, Montana; daughter-in-law, Barb LaGrange of Toledo; grandchildren, Colleen (Ryan) Reed, Bobby (Julie) LaGrange, Kristy LaGrange of Toledo, and Andy and Ryan LaGrange of Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carol Sue, on December 23, 2007. He also was preceded in death by his eldest son, Robert LaGrange, on November 23, 2007. Robert J. “Bob” Fairbairn, 81, of Oregon, Ohio, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Sacred Heart Home. Born in Highland Park, Michigan on December 5, 1926, he was the son of Thomas and Marie (Snay) Fairbairn. He moved to Toledo, (Point Place) and attended grade school at St. John the Baptist, where he met his future wife, Agnes. They married in 1949, and raised their family in Point Place. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Fairbairn was a self-employed organist and repairman. His love for the organ and music was apparent in his life as he played and directed choir for several Toledo area Catholic churches over the years. He also was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In 1996, he and his wife moved to the Sacred Heart Home (Little Sisters of the Poor). He is survived by his children, Sr. Katherine Fairbairn, L.S.P., Jeanne (Terry) Sherman, George (Marianne), John (Maureen), Edward Fairbairn, Rebecca (Kevin) Homer, Constance (Chuck) Newell; brothers, Thomas and Charles Fairbairn; grandchildren, Colleen (Robert) McFarland, Michael Sherman, Josie and Jacob Fairbairn, Daniel Kutchey, Amanda Homer, Chris, Curtis and Charlie Newell. Lisa S. Geiner, 43, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 9, 2008. She was born in Toledo, to Frank and Jean (Helfrich) Daig, Jr. in 1965. She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening, singing and dancing to classic Rock n Roll. She was an avid fan of Dale Earnhart, Jr. and NASCAR racing. Mrs. Geiner was a member of Alexis Congregational Church. Helen “Boo Boo” L. Michalski, 84, died Sunday, May 11, 2008. She was born in Toledo, to Felix and Josephine (Gregorek) Nowak in 1923. She worked for 10 years in accounts payable for Gulf States Paper; she retired in 1980. Her creative side was expressed in the crafts she made and the flowers she cultivated in her garden, especially roses. She served as a Girl Scout leader, and belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Mi- John Bowling League and served as league secretary. She enjoyed playing bingo and camping. Mrs. Michalski is survived by her husband of 58 years, “Pa” Leonard Michalski; children, Sandy (Al) Brady, Karen (Denny) Kerekes, and Terry (Kim) Michalski; grandchildren, Shelly (Lon) Stender, Rick (Gail) Kerchevall, Amy (Pat) Measles, Rhonna Kerchevall, Chris (Amy) Kerchevall, Jason (Tracy) Kerchevall, Joshua Kneller; Jacob (Nikki) Michalski, Stefani Michalski, and Carly Michalski, and 16 great-grandchildren. Gertrude “Gertie” C. Bella, 90, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008. She was born in 1917, in Toledo, to Albert and Madeline (Burger) Webber. She was the cook for 50 years at Webbers Restaurant in Erie, Michigan, where she retired in 2000. She enjoyed embroidery and made treasures for her family to cherish. She also enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her garden. She was a member of American Legion Lynn C. Weeman Post #514. Ms. Bella graduated from Point Place High School and from the former Warren’s Beauty School. She served as the representative of the Goerlich Center for the 2003 “My Fair Lady” pageant at the Lucas County Fair. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Charles) Brown-Schott, Theresa Bella, and Mary (Michael) Maciolek; grandchildren, Christopher (Susan) Brown, and Brian Maciolek; stepgrandchildren, Ann (Jack) Lundquest, Susan (Kevin) Shammo, Charles (Lisa) Schott, and Peggy Schott; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. CHARLES “CHUCK” KWIATKOWSKI
Charles “Chuck” J. Kwiatkowski, 83, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008. He was born in Toledo, in 1924, to Theodore and Frances (Kropaczewski) Kwiatkowski. He worked for more than 38 years as a stationary engineer for the Jeep Corporation and retired in 1980. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. In December 1944, he was wounded in action and was presented the Purple Heart. He was the past commander of Buddy Frankowski VFW Post 5530. He enjoyed playing pinochle at the VFW with his fellow comrades. He also enjoyed his work outs at the health club, fishing on Lake Erie and hunting with his friends. There were always fresh vegetables at the Kwiatkowski house because of his green thumb. Mr. Kwiatkowski is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita (Walter); children, Tom (Pat) Kwiatkowski, Michael Kwiatkowski and Marsha (Michael) Samberg; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Dennis “Denny” L. Myers, 59, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 24, 2008, in his home. He was born in Toledo, in 1948, to Ray and Juliamae (Campbell) Myers. Mr. Myers was the assistant produce manager for the past five years at Marsh Grocery Store in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era while stationed in Korea. He was an avid fan of baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by his mother, Juliamae Myers; children, Jennifer (Don) Samuels, Jonathan Myers, and Joseph Myers. Funeral services were held May 1, at the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Katherine E. Head, 86, of Toledo, died Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1921, to John and Adeline (Steger) Ahl, Jr. She worked in housekeeping for 20 years at the Spitzer Building, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed drawing and making crafts. Ms. Head is survived by her children, Carol Morgan, Roy (Wilma) Head, Jr., John (Debra) Head, Joyce (Matthew) Keith, David (Debra) Head; 18 grandchildren. and 34 great-grandchildren. Doris A. Kurucz, 83, of Sun City Center, Florida, died April 29, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Emma and Roy Durney. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she married Tibor Kurucz on December 11, 1942. She was a graduate of Waite High School and attended Davis Business College. She was retired from Ohio State University and moved to Sun City Center, in 1985. She and her husband spent recent summers in Harrisburg, with their family. In addition to her numerous activities to support her children as a Girl Scout leader and den mother, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in her community. She enjoyed roller skating, dancing, knitting, sewing and cross-stitch. Harold “Pete” R. Kerschner Jr., 59, of the Point/Shoreland community, died unexpectedly. He was born in 1948, in Toledo, to Harold Sr. and Blanche (Gilbert) Kerschner. He graduated from Waite High School, enlisted in the Army and became a radio relay operator in Vietnam, ranking SP4 with honorable discharge. He was employed for more than 38 years at Textileather as a machine operator and union steward. He enjoyed Harleys, Tai Chi, dancing, travel and nature. Mr. Kerschner is survived by his wife, Sharlene; sons, Joe, Doug (Jamie), and Nic (Laurie) Kerschner; stepsons, Brent (Brandy) and Kevin (Erin) Marriott; many grandchildren; sisters, Sherry (Bob) Hyott, Mary Sue (Robin) Utter; father and mother-in-law, Rolly and Ginny Herdter; sistersin- law, Marlene Nickels, Nadine (Gordon) Schmidt, and Darlene (Charlie) Caldwell; and brother-in-law, Gary (Sharion) Herdter; Aunt Nancy; cousins, nephews, nieces, and many extended family members. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling and golf and held the position of past president of the Toledo Bowling Association. Dorothy A. (Miller) Rybicki, 94, of Plymouth, Michigan, and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Plymouth Inn Assisted Care Living in Plymouth. She was born in Toledo, on September 11, 1913, to Joseph and Emma (Michaelis) Miller. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. In 1948, she married Casper Rybicki. She worked as a clerical supervisor for Rossford ordnance for 15 years and had owned various apartment complexes and a motel while living in Fort Lauderdale. She is survived by her nephew, Robert (Dorothy) Welch of Perrysburg; greatnephews, Robert (Sally Straits) Welch, M.D. of Canton, Michigan, John (Sally) Welch of Perrysburg, and Matthew (Brenda) Welch of Perrysburg; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews, and eight greatgreat- great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper, in 1970. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church, 214 East Front Street, Perrysburg. Leona Murray, 82, of Point Place, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 18, 2008, in her home. She was born in Bridgeport, Ohio, to Bruno and Pauline (Korn) Bitker in 1925. She worked for 30 years as a selector for Libbey Glass Company. She enjoyed spending a leisurely day shopping with family or friends. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Adams, Linda (Tim) Adams, and Marcia Gradel; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Krueger, Aimee (Brian) Gentz, Lynn Lipp, Jennifer (Bob) Griffith, Todd (Christy) Adams, Wendy (Nick) Koch, Jessica Gradel and John Gradel III; 11 great-grandchildren, and sister, Helen Zoborski. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Savage, in 1955, and Marvin Murray, in 1991, and twin brother, Leonard Bitker. There was no visitation and interment was private. JOHN RUSSELL
John Russell, 92, of Point Place, died Friday, April 18, 2008, while at the Darlington House. He was born in Madison, Illinois, in 1915, to Kosta and Stella (Petro) Koeff. He worked as a pipeline operator for 50 years for Wolverine Pipeline, where he retired in 1983. He belonged to the Masonic Harbor Light Lodge #746 F&AM, for many years. He enjoyed tending to his rose garden. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bea (Davis); children, John (Pam) and James (Judy) Russell; grandchildren, Adrienne Radatke, Regan, Richard, and Catilan Russell, and Shawn (Rebekah) Snowddy, and great-grandchildren, Kailei Radatke and Audrey Snowddy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanne Snowddy and sister, Margaret Henningsen. Funeral services were held April 24, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home , with the Rev. Ralph E. Barlow Jr., 65, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He served his country and was a decorated veteran. He worked for the past eight years as an armed security guard for GSSC. Cheyanne L. Shipman, 14, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Cheyanne was a fierce player of UNO, enjoyed making crafts, anything ‘Scoobie Doo’; watching funny movies, singing and dancing to music and being with her family. She attended the former Oregon Bible Baptist Church until she could no longer go the distance and continued in her Bible studies at Lighthouse Baptist Church. She is survived by her parents; Michelle and T.J. Jerry “Pops” M. Eichenberg, 61, of north Toledo, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008. He was born in Toledo, on September 17, 1946, to Raymond and Annabelle (Ranville) Eichenberg.He worked for 35 years for the Canadian National Railroad as a carpenter, where he retired in 2004. In his younger years, he had worked as a mechanic with his father. He enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and taking long rides on his motorcycle. Thelma J. Fox, 90, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to John and Effie Mae (Hague) Green. She married John Fox on July 3, 1937. She was a member of the Cass Road Baptist Church. She had been active with the PTA, Mother’s Club, and the Girl Scouts at Stickney Elementary School. Carol Ann Beale, 65, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at her home in Toledo. She was born August 16, 1942, to William and Faye Beale in Toledo. She attended Woodward High School and graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor of business administration and a doctorate of jurisprudence. She continued with her education by receiving her certified public accountant licensure. Ms. Beale was one of the first women to own a CPA firm. She was a partner at Shonebarger, Beale and Associates, where she continued working until her death.She was an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mary Lou Kessler died March 25, 2008. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia, in May of 1930, to Opal and Ernest Via. She moved to Toledo with her family, where she graduated from Waite High School. It was there she met Harry Kessler, the boy next door. At an early age, they eloped and were married for 60 years.She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she was active with Sunday School, evangelism, Bible study, and funeral dinners.Mrs. Kessler enjoyed spending summers with her family at Devil’s Lake, taking boat rides at sunset and inner tube rides to the raft. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening and politics. She was Toledo’s First Lady from 1971 to 1977, when her husband was mayor.She is survived by her children, Lynn (Bill) Shambarger, Hope (Cecil) Hastings, Jim (Patty) Kessler, and Michael (Mannette) Kessler; grandchildren, Ellie, Ann, Liz, Jenny, Jasin, Lyndsi, Lisa and Becky, and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Will and Laura. DONALD ERD
Donald J. Erd, 70, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Harborside in Sylvania. He was formerly a resident of Point Place for many years. He was born on September 25, 1937, to Charles and Angela (Goncz) Erd.
He was a graduate of Macomber High School and a U S. Air Force veteran. He worked at various barber shops in Toledo.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Erd; sister, Geraldine (Norman) Woda, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Gerald, and his brother, William Erd.
There was no visitation and burial was private. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

STEVEN JONES
Steven "Jonesie" E. Jones, 51, of the Point/ Shoreland community, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 15, 2008. He was born September 28, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Donald and Joyce (Fornicola) Jones.
He owned and operated Ship & Shore for 20 years; fiberglass restoration was his trade. He enjoyed living in Point Place, where he was surrounded by his favorite activity-anything that had to do with water. He also enjoyed bowling, boating, Rock and Blues concerts.
Mr. Jones is survived by his children, David (Dawn) Poupard, Desiree (Kent) Miller, and Dustin (Janae) Jones; grandchildren, Drew, Devyn, Skyler, Bella, and Jade; mother, Joyce Jones; brother, Howard "Sam" Jones; sister, Dawn Jones; and nephews, Daniel and Charles. He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Donald.

FREDA HUNT
Freda "Janet" Hunt, 80, of Toledo, died March 6, 2008, at her home. She was born in Roseburg, Indiana, on September 26, 1927, to Herman and Stella Davis.
She graduated from Woodward High School in 1945 and married Bill Hunt, her high school sweetheart. Both were members of the American Legion Post 576. Mrs. Hunt enjoyed cooking family dinners, canning vegetables from their garden and was avid Ohio State University fan. Her favorite pastime was vacationing in Florida.
She worked for the Kroger Company for more than 35 years.
She is survived by her sister, Laverne Weigel; children, Charles (Elaine), Kay (Jim) Buchanan, and John (Karen); 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles "Bill" Hunt.
Funeral services were held March 10, at the David R. Jasin Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Fraser officiating. Interment was in Toledo Memorial Park.

Jeffrey David Koss, 50, of the Point-Shoreland Community, died Friday March 7, 2008, at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center. He was born February 10, 1958, in Toledo, to James and Kathleen (Hensel) Koss, Sr. He was employed by Washington Township for 16 years, as the roads superintendent, and was a former member of the Washington Township Fire Department. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Rusty Wallace.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Koss of Perrysburg; mother, Kathleen Koss of Toledo; sister, Karen Harbauer of Toledo; niece, Laura Cooper and nephew, Kenny Cunningham II. He was preceded in death by his father, and brothers, Douglas Koss, Jr. and James Koss, Jr.

Nida J. Kujawa, 64, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Friday, February 29, 2008. She lived her entire life in Toledo.
She worked for Fifth Third Bank for 31 years as a new account representative, retiring in 2004; but continued working selling Mary Kay cosmetics for the past eight years.
She was a member of the Bedford Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed being involved with the church family. She volunteered at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Norm, especially in the eastern and southeast United States. She also enjoyed golfing and reading.
Mrs. Kujawa is survived by her husband of 27 years, Norman Kujawa; children, Bridget (Ronald) Tate, Matthew (Myrna) Fellers, Andrea Ohrt, Renee (Matt) Kalmbach, and Patrick Kujawa; grandchildren, Shane, Brandy, Kristin, Ryan, Keller, Kamden, and Emma; step-mother, Zona Alspaugh; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Sharon) Kujawa; sister-in-law, Charlene (Steve) Walenczak; several nieces and nephews, and special family friends, Steve Elliot, Richard and Diane Shemak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Irene (Hughes) Alspaugh.

Gerald J. Lanane, 50, of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at his home. He was born April 6, 1957, in Toledo, to Gerald and Elsie (Newton) Lanane-LaCourse.
He had worked for Stewart Brothers Roofing and six years ago he became a Union Carpenter and went to work for 2 Scale. He had been selected to do a special display at Toledo Express Airport for Owens Corning.
He enjoyed deer hunting with his lifelong friend George "Hogie" Hogan, and taking trips on his Harley Davidson.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew and Blake Lanane; daughter, Melissa Lanane; sisters, Juanita Lewis, Geri (David) Vinson, and Clara Gorski; step-father, Ted LaCourse; grandchildren, Charles, Charisty, Cannan and Chloe; special nephews, Kevin and Tim Urrutia and Kurt and Kent Gillespe; niece, Kimberly Gorski, and special friends, "Bear" Henning and Beth Whitson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Doug Lewis and Ted A LaCourse.

JACK MARTIN
Jack T. Martin formerly of Point Place, died January 8, 2008, in California, where he had made his home for the past 30 years. He was born to John and Emma Martin on April 10, 1921. He grew up in Point Place and started his football career at Point Place High School, where he played offensive center, a position he continued his entire football career. He then transferred to Waite High School in 1937, when Point Place was annexed to the City of Toledo.
In the 1939-40 football season, he was captain of the team his senior year when they defeated Portsmouth in the Buckeye Bowl played Columbus for the Mythical State Championship.
After graduation, Mr. Martin moved on to Princeton University, where he earned his varsity letter in 1941. After two years, he applied and was accepted to the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He played all three years on the varsity team for the Navy. After completing a two-year stint in the Navy following graduation from Annapolis, Mr. Martin joined the Los Angeles Rams, where he played during the 1947, 48 and 49 seasons. After retiring from football, he started a second career as a professional negotiator.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn (Buchele) Martin; sons, Thomas and John; daughter, Joan; four grandchildren, and sister, Mary Pennington of Toledo.

MILDRED MILLER
MILDRED MILLER
Mildred Miller, 96, formerly of the Point-Shoreland community, died Sunday, February 24, 2008. She was born in Star Tannery, Virginia, in 1911, to Kirby and Rena (Beatley) Tewalt. Her father died in the 1918 flu epidemic. She and her siblings were raised by her mother in the country. She had not seen a movie until she was 16 years old. Millie was a member of the "Noon Bunch" at Tiffin High School. These were the rural students who carried their lunches because they couldn't go home for lunch like the children who lived in town.
After graduating, she trained as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. She later worked in the surgical ward at Lakeside Hospital in Cleveland, where she was involved with some of the first open heart surgeries. While living in Cleveland, she met and later married Blaine Miller of Sandusky, who was working aboard the USS Burton for the Corps of Engineers. They resided in Cleveland where their son, Gary, was born in 1940, moving to Point Place when Mr. Miller got a job with Huron Portland Cement as Toledo Terminal manager in 1944. A subsequent promotion with Huron Portland took the family to live in Grosse Ile, Michigan. After her husband's recent death, Mrs. Miller moved back to Toledo to be closer to her son, who had returned to his old hometown upon his own retirement.
Mrs. Miller was an accomplished artist, working in pottery and cloisonne enamel. She and her husband spent their winters in Kerrville, Texas, for many years. Mrs. Miller was an active member of the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church and Messiah Lutheran Church in Point Place.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Sherry); four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Una Grace Shuba, 82, died February 20, 2008, at the Kingston Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Weston-super-Mare, County of Somerset, United Kingdom on January 23, 1926. She grew up in Weston and enjoyed describing the beauties of the Somerset countryside to her friends and loved ones. Despite being a naturalized American citizen she never lost her love for the "old country."
She endured the Great Depression in England. During World War II, she met her future husband, John. Family legend has it that they met during a blackout when he asked her for a match. They corresponded during and after the war and Mr. Shuba proposed by mail. They were married in 1950.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and housekeeping. She was active with other WWII war brides in the International Institute and other organizations. She and her husband enjoyed visiting her family in England.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie McMullen; son-in-law, Michael McMul-len; son, Jack Shuba; sister, Irene Wolfe; brother-in-law, Sidney Randall, and nephew Paul Randall.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at the Point Place United Church of Christ, 4920 297th at 116th Street. Arrangements were made by the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc.

WALTER LANZ, JR.
Walter F. Lanz, Jr., 68, of the Point/Shoreland community, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Toledo, to Walter Sr. and Mildred (Fisher) Lanz on August 24, 1939.
He played basketball while attending Waite High School. After graduation, he served for three years in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, scuba diving, woodworking, photography, Indy Car racing, power squadron, and boating. Mr. Lanz was a member of the NRA. He worked for 12 years as a millwright/welder for Chrysler, where he retired in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara; sons, Gary (Cathy) Bartel and Bryan Lanz; grandchildren, Tyler, Madeline and Olivia; brothers, James (Nancy) and Charles (Linda) Lanz; father-in-law, Homer (Nancy) Harrington; sister-in-law, Sharon Lanz, and lifelong friends, Dick (Mary Ann) Jankowski. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, David.

Richard A. Ragland, 68, died March 2, 2008, in Albany, Oregon. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and moved to the Point Place area with his parents, John and Elizabeth Ragland. He was a graduate of Macomber Technical School. He served in the Air Force for 20 years. After retirement, he spent several years working for various fire protection companies.
Mr. Ragland is survived by his children, Julia (Shannon) Fraser, Rick (Sonya) and Jennifer (Steve) Barker, all of Oregon; five grandchildren; brother, John (Teresia); special nephew, Eli, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and brother-in-law, Frank Martin of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lawrence L. Rowley, 71, of Toledo, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 3, 2008. He was born in Toledo, to Victor and Lenora (Merrill) Rowley.
He was the maintenance and repairman for Parks Tower at the University of Toledo for 32 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends, and had served as former trustee of Merickel-Farley Trout Club.
Mr. Rowley is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine "Margie" (Glander); children, Dianna (Tom) Baldwin, Virginia (Phil) Elder, Thomas Rowley, and Laura (Jayson) Tipping; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Cassie Smith; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Irene Glander; special friend, Barb Cox, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennette Goeschel, and three infant children.

ANITA GOHLKE
ANITA GOHLKE
Anita T. Gohlke, age 57, of Point Place, died in her home on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Anita was born on June 29, 1950, in Toledo, to Angel and Mary Agnes (Bladel) Anaya.
She was a graduate of Woodward High School and 29 years later she attended Stautzenberger College to attain her associateÕs degree. She worked for various companies, including Sheller Globe, Libbey-Owens-Ford, and Professional Computer Development Corporation.
Mrs. Gohlke enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite places to visit were Disney World, Las Vegas, Reno, and the 1996 Olympics. She enjoyed taking her granddaughters to the Kentucky Horse Park.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; daughters, Dawn Blazey and Elizabeth Braden; grandchildren, Angel McFarland, Taylor and Faith Blazey, and brother, Danny Anaya. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angel ÒLuckyÓ and Mary Agnes Anaya.
Funeral services were held February 25, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. David Rushton officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park.

CAROL RITENOUR
Carol (Sabin) Ritenour, 68, of Toledo, died February 23, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born May 3, 1939, and was a lifetime resident of Point Place.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth and Jennifer; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Florence Kachenmeister; brother, Tom Sabin; four half brothers; one half sister; two stepsisters, and two stepbrothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Tommy, and stepsister, Eileen.
A wake, planned by the grandchildren, will be held March 5, at 6 p.m., at the Ottawa River Yacht Club.

JEANETTE VELLIQUETTE
Jeanette E. Velliquette, 97, of Toledo, died Friday, February 22, 2008. She was born in Toledo, in 1911. She worked for 30 years as a cashier for A&P Grocery Store, where she retired in 1974. She was a former member of St. MaryÕs Catholic Church. She belonged to the Bavarian Sports Club, where she enjoyed the festivals, friendships, ethnic dishes and music. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her roses, and playing cards with her family and friends.
Ms. Velliquette is survived by her children, Thomas (Bertha) Velliquette, Jr., Janet (Jerry) Davis, and Francis Velliquette; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and sister, Betty Krochmolly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas ÒMoeÓ in 1969, and son, Dennis Velliquette.
Funeral services were held February 27, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Philiposki officiating. Interment was private.

MARY WALLACE
Mary P. Wallace, 68, formerly of the Point/Shoreland Community, died Thursday, February 21, 2008. She was born in Hicksville, Ohio, to Ravonne and Marie (Neidhardt) Noffsinger.
She worked as a library media coordinator at Sylvania City Schools from 1965 to 1976 and Washington Local Schools from 1976 to 1994, when she retired. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1961, with a bachelor of science degree in education, then obtained her masterÕs degree in library science at the University of Toledo in 1969.
She married Angelo Wallace in 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgerton, Ohio. She was a volunteer desktop publisher for the Ohio Educational Library Media Association President's newsletter and journal Ohio Media Spectrum. For that work she received and OELMA Award of Merit. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, and working on genealogy projects.
She is survived by her children, Caterina (Douglas), and Victor (Terri), and grandchildren, Adam, Marie, and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Angelo, on April 28, 2001.
Visitation was held February 25, at the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services were held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio, with the Rev. Chris Sigmon officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
VIRGINIA WATSON
Virginia M. Watson, 82, of Point Place, died February 24, 2008. The daughter of Bert and Florence (Zielinska) Szczecinski, she was born and raised in Toledo. A homemaker, she and her husband, Coleman, were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Mrs. Watson enjoyed the challenges of solving crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Coleman; children, Mark Watson, Janice Naugle, and Beverly (Jim) Dennison; grandchildren, Jerry Northup, Wendy Swan, Joe Watson, and Ryan Watson; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vince Zale.
Funeral services were held February 28, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Wehinger officiating. Interment was in Lake Township Cemetery.
