EUGENE ECKEL

Eugene F. “Gene” Eckel, 86, of Perrysburg, died June 20, 2008, at St. Vincent’s-Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He was born in Perrysburg, on June 23, 1921, to Frank and Florence (Dreps) Eckel, and was a 1935 graduate of St. Rose School. In May 1939, Mr. Eckel graduated from Perrysburg High School and went on to Bowling Green State University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received his bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1943. A U.S. Navy veteran, Lt. Eugene Eckel served during World War II in the Pacific Theater assigned as executive officer on various Navy vessels. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navel Reserve until October of 1956. He began his management career with Owens Illinois in 1946, then with Doehler Jarvis in February of 1967. He then worked for Toledo Edison, where he retired as manager of information support services in 1984, after 14 years of service. He was a member of the Toledo Club and St. Rose Catholic Church. A world traveler, he vacationed throughout all of the United States, Europe, Asia, South America and most of the Caribbean Islands, from where he acquired an elaborate collection of unique seashells. Since 1993, during the months of February and March, he and his wife, Bertha, enjoyed spending time in Maui, Hawaii, their “home away from home.” From childhood, Mr. Eckel enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Lewandowski) Eckel; stepchildren, Robert (Linda) Lewandowski of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Phyllis (Stephen) Etzel of Perrysburg; Joanne (Kurt) Smith of Martin, Ohio, Daniel (Laurie) Lewandowski of Purcellville, Virginia and William (Sally) Wester, II of Cincinnati, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; sister, Mary Alice (Frank) Sadowski of Perrysburg; brother-in-law, Daniel Kolacki of Apoka, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Schaller) Eckel; brothers, Harold, Carl and Donald; sisters, Ruth McDowell, Florence Pinkelman and Gladys Destatte. Scripture services were held June 24, in the Witzler- Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary, Perrysburg. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home today, June 25, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville, Ohio. EDWARD NYCZ

Edward Nycz, 85, of Rossford, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1923, to Andrew and Josephine (Mazur) Nycz. He was raised and educated in Rossford, and was one of eight brothers and sisters. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, where he participated in action in Okinawa, Ryukyu Island, and in the occupation of China. Upon returning to his hometown, he married Anne O’Leary, started his family and built his “Sears Roebuck Catalogue” home with his brother-in-law, Matt Faykosh. He began his career at the downtown Toledo Sears and Roebuck and retired after 40 years, where he had been in charge of shipping and receiving at the Westgate store. He was a 50-year member of All Saints Catholic Church and the former St. Mary Magdalene Church. He remained active during his retirement, meeting daily with his friends, bowling, taking care of his dog and being active in the Rossford American Legion Post 533, where he was past post commander. This past Memorial Day, he participated in the annual Rossford parade as the town’s oldest veteran. He is survived by his children, James (Trisha) Nycz, Joseph (Marilyn) Nycz and Judy Perry; grandchildren, Kelly (Jon) Bias, Andrew Nycz, Nick (Abby) Nycz, Michael Nycz, Jennifer (Kervin) Govender, Christine Nycz, Kimberly Perry, Rebecca Perry and William Perry; eight great-grandchildren and his special friend, Del Keller. Mr. Nycz was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; all of his siblings and his granddaughter, Lisa Nycz. American Legion and Scripture services were held June 22, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 23, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Building Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.




NORMAN JURGENS

Norman R. Jurgens, 66, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at his home. He was born December 19, 1941, in Ashland, Ohio, to Norman and Martha (Russell) Jurgens. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960, and attended the University of Toledo, where he received his bachelor’s degree of science in business with a minor in mechanical engineering. He worked as an engineer for Owens Illinois Glass Company, where he retired in 2000. He also was an avid golfer and tennis player and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a member at St. Rose Catholic Church. Mr. Jurgens is survived by his daughter, Jenifer (Ryan) Michaels of Republic, Ohio; granddaughter, Shelby Michaels; brother, Raymond (Barbara) Jurgens, sisters, Joyce (Paul) Desrochers and Theresa (Michael) Miller; 10 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and greatnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received today, June 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home Thursday, June 19, at 11:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church, 214 East Front Street, Perrysburg, at noon, with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. REV. A. ROBERT LAMANTIA

Reverend A. Robert Lamantia, 87, of Toledo, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on January 5, 1921, in Lima, Ohio to Salvatore and Vincenza Lamantia. Father Lamantia was ordained on May 22, 1948, and first assigned to Immaculate Conception in Toledo until 1952, when he was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He served there until 1965, when he was assigned as pastor at Oak Harbor St. Boniface Church. This was a time of many liturgical changes and Fr. Lamantia formed a Liturgy committee that eventually resurrected a temporary altar and began celebrating Mass facing the people. He also was instrumental in starting St. Boniface School in two classrooms in the fall of 1966. In 1969, Bishop Donovan sent him to I.C. Bellevue to implement the liturgical changes that were necessary there. In 1973, he was moved to St. Charles in Lima, Ohio, where he furthered to update the new Liturgical changes. He served as dean, responsible for checking the Sacramental and financial records of 22 parishes. In 1984, Bishop Hoffman implemented the policy that no priest should remain in an assignment more than 10 years, so that year he was transferred to St. Rose Church in Perrysburg, where he served until his retirement in 1990 at age 70. He continued to help other parishes after his retirement, including St. Joseph Church in Maumee, St. Joseph Church in Sylvania, and most recently at St. Joan of Arc in Toledo. He is survived by brothers and sisters, Marie Duvall of Lima, Vincent Lamantia of Lima, Josephine Ciancilo of Sidney, Ohio, Richard Lamantia of Dayton, Ohio, Helen Gulker of Troy, Ohio, Roseanne Sprague of Dayton, and Virginia Raymond of Lima, and many nieces and nephews. The Reception of the Body and Vespers were celebrated June 15, at St. Joan of Arc Church, Toledo. The Funeral Liturgy was held June 16, with Bishop Leonard Blair presiding, followed by committal services at St. Rose Cemetery’s Priest Circle in Perrysburg. Arrangements were made by the Witzler- Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Priest’s Retirement Fund, c/o The Diocese of Toledo.


ROBERT COCANOUR
Robert Clair “R.C.” Cocanour, 72, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Manor at Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, on September 8, 1935, to Clair and Lenore (Hoffman) Cocanour. He was once employed by the University of Toledo Medical Center as an animal caretaker and he also was a licensed taxidermist. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where he participated as an usher for 20 years. He was a world traveler, having traveled to every country except Russia. He was a well-known artist who enjoyed working with acrylics. For the past year, he enjoyed working with Wood Lane Industries, where he was featured in a PowerPoint presentation, and has some of his artwork displayed. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (John) Woolley; nieces, Nancy (Dave) Modene, Cheryl (David) Garcia, Sue (Sean) Digman and Debbie Labadie; nephew, Jeff (Meghan) Woolley; greatnieces, Megan, Mary Judith and Jennifer Modene, Ava and Maryn Woolley, Emily Garcia, Emma Digman and Anne Labadie; greatnephews, Justin Modene, Austin Garcia, Christopher Labadie and Reid Digman. A Scripture service was held June 9, in the Witzler- Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Funeral services began in the funeral home on June 10, and proceeded to St. Rose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery. JAMES DONNELLY

James R. Donnelly, 81, of Perrysburg, and formerly of Cortland, Ohio, died Monday, June 2, 2008, in Perrysburg. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 18, 1926, to James and Katherine (McKay) Donnelly. He married Martha Wolfe on November 11, 1950, in Pittsburgh. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he went on to graduate from Duquesne University. He worked in the human resources department, first with Reactive Metals in Niles, Ohio, and later with Wean Industries in Warren, Ohio. Most recently he was an insurance sales representative for Prudential Insurance. He was a member of the Maumee and Warren Elks and St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, and a former member of St. Roberts Church in Cortland. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, James (Jane) Donnelly of San Francisco, California, Richard (Phyllis) Donnelly of St. Petersburg, Florida, Linda Donnelly of St. Petersburg, Esther (Rick) Johnson of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Jennifer Donnelly, Michael, Josh and Lauren Fruland, Lauren, Matt and Sarah Johnson; sisters, Virginia (Jack) McGinley and June (Robert) Banks; sisters-inlaw, Eileen Stellar, June and Audrey Wolfe; brotherin- law, John (Susan) Wolfe, and cousin, Theorita Bennett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, and sisters, Betty McKiterick and Rita Keenan. Prayers were recited in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home on Friday, June 6, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Church. Chapel services were held June 7, at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.




PATRICIA STONER

Patricia Lou (Rose) Stoner, 80, of Perrysburg, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. She was born December 31, 1927, in Toledo, to Kenneth and Margaret (Young) Rose, and was a graduate of Whitney High School in Toledo. She married Donald Stoner on March 11, 1948, in Covington, Kentucky. Mrs. Stoner was a homemaker and for 17 years worked for the city of Perrysburg as a crossing guard for Frank Elementary School students. She enjoyed her Sunday travels to Detroit-area casinos and was a talented seamstress displaying her geese and baby clothes at craft shows along with other handmade crafts. She is survived by her husband, Don; son, Thomas (Cheryl Knight-Stoner) Stoner of Arcadia, Wisconsin, and grandson, Justice Stoner of Berea, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susie Stoner; son, Gary Stoner; sister, Nancy, and brother, Kenneth Jr. Funeral services will be held at today, June 11, at 11 a.m., at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park




SHARON MEDFORD

Sharon Ann Williams Medford, 69, of Salem, Ohio, died June 1, 2008. She was born April 4, 1939, in Perrysburg, to Karl and Lucille (Kazmeier) Williams of Perrysburg. For the past 20 years, she was the pianist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Washingtonville. She was active in the Salem community, where she helped to design and establish the gardens at the Burchfield Homestead Museum; was a member of the Salem Downtown Renaissance Committee, and was a driver for Meals on Wheels. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in May 1961. She served on the Salem School Board in the late 1980s. She also acted as a ‘guardian ad litem’ for Columbiana County; was a volunteer for many years for SAVE, a local safe haven for women and children, and taught Parent Effectiveness Training classes at various churches in northeastern Ohio. She served as a Sunday school teacher, church choir and music director at a number of Lutheran churches in Ohio. She also was well known for her extensive and luxuriant home flower gardens. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. William Medford, pastor of the Washingtonville Trinity Lutheran Church, whom she married in Perrysburg, on September 4, 1960. She also is survived by her children and their spouses, Margot (Bruce) Medford Wuebbens of Durham, North Carolina, Michael (Karen) Medford of Atlanta, Georgia, Anne (Martin) Medford Pipho of Arvada, Colorado, Matthew (Marcy) Medford of Boston, Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren; mother, Lucille Williams; her siblings, Duane Williams of Golden, Colorado, Dan Williams of Maumee, and Barb Williams Gosnell of Clyde, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father. A Celebration of Life Service was held June 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, with the Rev. John Gruneich and former Pastor Bill Wilkins officiating. WILLIAM JONES

William “Bill” James Jones, 81, of Toledo, died on June 5, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on May 1, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Edward and Georgia (Hunter) Jones. He graduated from Youngs-town South High School in 1945, and also attended Youngstown State University. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a soldier in the 88th Infantry Division stationed in Italy as part of the post-World War II occupation forces. Mr. Jones married Marian Stanton on October 9, 1948, in Winchester, Virginia. He was an industrial salesman with many successful years in the field. A skilled craftsman, he completely restored an old farm house in Wayne, Ohio. He also was an avid reader and collector of antiques. He was a resident of Sunset House in Toledo from 2006 to 2008. He is survived by his children, Scott (Gail) Jones of Chardon, Ohio; Martha Agha of Lexington, South Carolina; Judith (Eric) DeCinti of Flower Mound, Texas, and Douglas Jones of Oregon, Ohio; grandchildren, Heidi (Jonathon) Claxton of Akron, Ohio; Michael Jones of Stow, Ohio; Lindsey Jones of Stow; Andrew (Nicole) Agha of Charleston, South Carolina; Anissa (Michael) Terpstra of Columbia, South Carolina; Amanda Agha of Columbia; Emily (Matthew) Kowalczyk of Summerville, South Carolina, and Abigail Mains of Frisco, Texas, and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother E. Robert (Mary Ina) Jones of Poland, Ohio. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, in 1986, and by his sister, Gladys, in 1987. JULIE PEER
Julie Ann Peer, 64, of Oregon, Ohio, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on August 31, 1943, in Toledo, to William and Harriet Browning. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1961, and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Peer II, in 1964. She spent many years working as an administrative assistant for Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co., Teledyne, and the Oregon School Board. She enjoyed baking, gardening, taking day trips with her husband and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Peer; children, Larisa (Mark) Pauken, Jackie (Jeff) Pappas, John (Becky) Peer and Anne (Shane) Seiple; grandchildren, Andrew, Curtis, Simon, Abigail, Nathan, Chloe, Connor, Caden, and Calli; sister, Patty (Don) Kost; sisters-in-law, Pat (Herb) Young, Celia (Don) Jacobs; niece, Lisa, and nephews, Josh, Herb, Ron and Randy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lillian. A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 29, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Interment followed at Fort Meigs Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.




EUGENE MOLENAUR SR.

Eugene H. Molenaur, Sr., 80, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 8, 1927, to Logan and Orsella (Smith) Molenaur. He married Mary Houseman in Akron, on October 3, 1948. He spent his early education in the Akron School system and was a 1951 graduate of Kent State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology, followed by graduate school at the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Radarman 3/C aboard the USS Oregon City (CA 122) from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Molenaur worked for 23 years as an Area V Director for AARP at the Chicago (Des Plaines) office serving the states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin, and retiring in 1990. He also served as executive director of senior citizens program in Canton, Ohio from 1961 to 1967 and for 10 years with the Boy Scouts of America as district executive, camp director and director of public relations in Toledo and Lisbon, Ohio. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waterville, serving as an elder and a member of the Building/Grounds Committee. Other memberships include: past member of Kiwanis Club, the Gerontological Society, National Council on Aging, Aging Society, Boy Scouts of America, Topical Stamp Society, Scouts of Stamp Society, Alpha Phi Omega, Order of the Arrow and the Sherlock Holmes Society. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood crafting, stamp collecting, golf, walking, collecting John Wayne and Sherlock Holmes VHS, and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Bill) Hesselbein of Whitehouse, Ohio; son, Eugene (Karen) Molenaur, Jr. of Holland; daughter, Susan (Kim) Markovich of McHenry, Illinois; son, Chris (Cathy) Molenaur of Wauconda, Illinois; twin brother, Donald of Akron; grandchildren, Bill III, Jeremy, Justin, and Jennifer, and great-grandson, Wesson Hesselbein. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1997. Services were private and there was be no visitation. Arrangements were made by Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. EDWIN DAMSCHRODER

Edwin F. Damschroder, 85, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born July 17, 1922, in Toledo, to Edwin and Bertha (Witte) Damschroder. He was the owner and operator of Damschroder’s Store for Men in downtown Toledo that was founded in 1916 by his father and is now operated by his son Jim. He attended the University of Toledo after graduating from Scott High School in 1940. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy Aviation Cadet program. He served as a naval pilot until the war’s end and joined his father in business. He married Dorothy Wearley on December 8, 1945. He served as president of the alumnae association of the University of Toledo in 1972 and 1973. He was a three-year member of the facilities committee of the athletic board of control. In 1978, he was awarded the Blue T and received the 12th Man award in October of 1983. He served as chairman of the Neighborhood Improvement Foundation of Toledo from 1974 to 1978. He was a trustee of the Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce from 1973 to 1975, was a member of Retailers of America and the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, and he was licensed as a State of Ohio Realtor. Mr. Damschroder was a long time member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg and a former member of Inverness, Catawba Island Club and Belmont Country Club. He is survived by his daughter, Kiki (Dennis) Kossow and son, Jim (Lisa) Damschroder; grandchildren, Emily Balf, Andrea (Gavin) Payne and Jed and Diana Damschroder; greatgrandsons, Dylan and Myles Payne, and sister, Meredith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on January 3, 1995. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Jim, and his sister, Phyllis. A memorial service was held May 18, at Zoar Lutheran Church. There was no visitation and burial services were private at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. ROBERT MAUK
Robert Morris Mauk, born December 26, 1928, died May 13, 2008. Mr. Mauk was the founder of Winners Walk Tall, a Cincinnati based non-profit organization dealing with inner-city youth. His business career was with Owens Corning Fiberglas, Kenner Products and Colliers International. He was a graduate of The Brooks School, Dartmouth College and Thayer School of Engineering. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Eaton Mauk; four children; nine grandchildren, and brother, Clinton Mauk of Perrysburg. WALTER RUCH
Walter J. Ruch, 54, of Perrysburg, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on August 19, 1953, to Richard and Geneieve (Snyder) Ruch in Toledo. He was a graduate of Sylvania High School, where he excelled in track. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having spent time in Europe in the early 1970s. He was employed with Old Castle Glass in Perrysburg as a glassworker. He enjoyed watching and reading about sports, especially Nascar. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sandy (Hutchinson) Ruch; mother, Geneieve Ruch; children, Lisa (Steve) Fortner of Defiance, and Amy (Christopher) Giordano of Toledo; grandchildren, Matthew Fortner, Daniel Fortner, Sarah Fortner, Samantha Giordano and Michael Giordano; siblings, Rich Ruch of Virginia; Ron Ruch, Dave Ruch, Jim Ruch and Carol Del Signore and their families, all of Toledo. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ruch. There was no visitation and services were private. Arrangements are made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford.


SHARON BUCKENBERGER
Sharon Kay Buckenberger, 62, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born on November 1, 1945, in Toledo, to George and Mary (Kish) Buckenberger. She was a 1963 graduate of Perrysburg High School. After graduation, she moved to California where she resided and owned her own candy business for many years prior to returning to Ohio. She enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks and Snoopy memorabilia, playing softball, golf and other sports. She also enjoyed attending craft fairs and garage sales. Ms. Buckenberger is survived by her sisters, Donna McCally and Betty Finch, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Philip Buckenberger. The family is honoring her request to have her cremains returned to California. A memorial service is being arranged by her closest friends in California, to celebrate her active 40 years of life on the West Coast. WALTER “PETE” WILSON
Walter T. “Pete” Wilson, 86, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Manor at Perrysburg. He was born on November 30, 1921, in Toledo, to Walter and Mary (Clark) Wilson. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School and studied architecture at the University of Toledo. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Florine “Flossie” Dautell on February 19, 1944, in Toledo. He worked in the family business, Wilson Wiping Cloth Company, until 1950, when his father purchased the Waterville Lumber and Supply. In 1985, he liquidated the business, retired and was able to enjoy his favorite pastimes: gardening, golf, traveling, boating and playing cards. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, the Carranor Hunt and Polo Club, Catawba Island Club, the Matthews and Lyman Boat Owners Association and was a dedicated driver for the Wood County Meals on Wheels program. Mr. Wilson is survived by his son, Jeff Wilson of Perrysburg; daughter, Nancy (Larry) Hutson of Perrysburg, and granddaughter, Jennifer Hutson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florine, in 2007. There will be no visitation. A memorial service for both Mr. and Mrs. Wilson will be held tomorrow, May 15, at 11 a.m., at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 871 East Boundary Street, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Pepin officiating. JOHN ANDRYC
John N. Andryc, 84, of Perrysburg, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on July 10, 1923, to Nicholas and Mary (Zawojski) Andryc in Rossford, Ohio. He married Agnes Hencher on November 3, 1951. He was employed with Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company for 40 years, where he retired in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Rossford Eagles and All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and in his younger years was an avid bowler and enjoyed sports. Mr. Andryc is survived by his sisters, Ann (Jim) Boos, Helen (Loren) Eckhart, Rose (Jim) West and Dorothy (John) Belegrin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, in 2003; brothers, Anthony and Nicholas Andryc, and sister, Julie Ramsbottom. Funeral services were held April 30, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Interment was in Fort Meigs Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or All Saints Catholic Church.


GRACE FULLENKAMP
Grace Elizabeth Fullenkamp was born on April 29, 2008, at 12:07 a.m., at the Toledo Hospital, Toledo, and died 18 minutes later at 12:25 a.m., in the arms of her parents, Alan and Stephanie (Hartwig) Fullenkamp of Perrysburg. She is survived by her parents; brother, Nicholas; grandparents, Steve and Betty Heitkamp of Minster, Ohio, and Steve and Diana Hartwig of New Bremen, Ohio; great-grandparents, Ruth Heitkamp of Minster, Rita Elking and Duane and Alice Hartwig, all of New Bremen, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kenneth Fullenkamp. The family celebrated Grace’s life with a private service at the Gilberg- Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with burial following at the St. Francis Cemetery, Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, next to her grandfather, Kenneth Fullenkamp


ADARENE “ADA” MIDDLETON
Adarene “Ada” Middleton, 64, of Perrysburg Township, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in her home. She was born on July 5, 1943, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to Jim and Cora Partin. She spent many years working in a factory and as a caregiver, but her true life’s work was raising five children as a single parent. She is survived by her children, Roy and Trisha Middleton, Tim and Laura Middleton, Roland and Kim Middleton, Patricia Middleton and Scott and Kris Middleton; grandchildren, Chad, Brent (Jamie), Katie (Kyle), Joshua, Justin, Ashley, Skyler, Stephen, Brandon, Jacob, Lucas and Nicholas Middleton; brothers, Lee Roy and Agatha Partin, J.B. and Carol Partin, Estle and Eva Lee Partin, Daniel and June Partin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, Donald Shaw. Funeral services were held on April 28, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. DONNA OWEN

Donna B. Owen, 78, of Perrysburg, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Defiance, Ohio, on April 19, 1930, the only child of Victor and Kathryn (Ort) Smith. She was one of 11 graduates in 1948 of Ney High School. She worked for Owens Illinois in the accounting department for 28 years, retiring at age 55. During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending the Golden Emblem Club functions, which is the retirement group of O-I. She also enjoyed exercising at the Rossford Community Recreation Center and traveling. One of her five trips to Hawaii was a celebration of her 65th birthday, which she shared with her sons and their wives. She served as treasurer for her condominium board of Three Meadows. Ms. Owen is survived by her son, Tim (Kristie) Owen and their children, Tony, Jeff and Holly; daughter-inlaw, Suzanne Owen, and her children, Alexa, Adrienne (Don), Noelle and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Owen. Services were private. Burial was in Ney Cemetery, Defiance. Arrangements were made by the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.




BRUCE “CHIP” HANKINS JR.

Bruce “Chip” M. Hankins, Jr., 48, formerly of Maumee, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in his home in Waihi Beach, New Zealand. Mr. Hankins grew up in Maumee, and was an honors graduate of Maumee Valley Country Day School in 1978 and Dartmouth College in 1982. Among his youthful accomplishments, he was the youngest Eagle Scout in the history of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee. In 2001, he retired after a successful financial services career in the San Francisco Bay area, selling his horse ranch there and moving his family to New Zealand. He was an ardent organic dairy farmer, equine enthusiast and outdoorsman. He was an ordained clergyman, who performed numerous weddings worldwide, including Japan. He married Phillipa Jones in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 1988. A native of New Zealand and a veterinarian, she survives along with their two sons, Jasper and Cameron Hankins. He also is survived by his parents, Bruce and Joan Hankins of Pemberville; sister, Abby (Dan) Rogowski and their two daughters, of Hilliard, Ohio. Mr. Hankins was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Margaret Hankins, and his maternal grandparents, John and Esther Farmer. A memorial service was held in Waihi Beach. Arrangements are pending for a memorial service to be held in Ohio about mid- June and one to be held in California. DOLORES WEBER

Dolores M. “Dee” Nicomede Weber, 75, of Maumee and formerly of Perrysburg, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born October 31, 1932, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Edith (Lanfranki) Nicomede. She married Billy Weber on November 8, 1969, in Richmond, Missouri. She worked at both the Holiday Inn French Quarter and MacQueen’s Orchard gift shops. She also was a volunteer in the gift shop at St. Luke’s Hospital and a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Billy; son, Marquis “Mark” (Sally) Weber of Naperville, Illinois, and grandchildren, Madeline and Allen Weber. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Nicomede. Funeral services will be held today, May 7, at 11 a.m., at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Dennis Huston officiating. DORIS KURUCZ
Doris A. Kurucz, 83, of Sun City Center, Florida, died April 29, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Emma and Roy Durney. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she married Tibor Kurucz on December 11, 1942. She was a graduate of Waite High School and attended Davis Business College. She was retired from Ohio State University and moved to Sun City Center, in 1985. She and her husband spent recent summers in Harrisburg, with their family. In addition to her numerous activities to support her children as a Girl Scout leader and den mother, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in her community. She enjoyed roller skating, dancing, knitting, sewing and cross-stitch. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tibor; children, Kenneth (Kathy) of Walbridge, Ohio, Karen Kester of Sun City Center, Ronald of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kathleen (Ken) Criscio of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Christine (David) Currier of Mesa, Arizona, Richard of Waynesville, Ohio, Susan (Mark) DiSanto of Harrisburg, Barbara (Richard) Olson of Saline, Michigan, and Deborah (Craig) Muehlbach of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; sister, Alice Oberly of Temperance, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Audrey C. Allgier, 68, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Bowling Green Manor. On January 31, 1940, she was born in Medina, New York, to Clifford and Agatha (Davis) Allport. She was an inventory controller for the former Photonics Corp, where she retired in 2002. She enjoyed playing card games and spending time with her family. Ms. Allgier enjoyed animals especially cats, dogs and birds. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Doug) Gillen of Toledo; son, Paul (Laurie) Baker of Genoa, Ohio; grandchildren, Tarra Headley, Andrew Brown, Joshua Baker, Christina Baker; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Tamara, Jackalynn, Savanna, Jeanann; sisters, Barbara Newbould of Abion, New York, Margaret Brundage of Watertown, New York. WILLIAM ASENDORF
A. William “Bill” Asendorf, 65, of Perrysburg, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on December 3, 1942, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to the Rev. Albert and Ruth (Cavanaugh) Asendorf. He was a graduate of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and was director of admissions at that same institution. He then did work in human resources for Owens Corning Fiberglas in Anderson, South Carolina, and Toledo. After leaving Owens Corning, he contin ued work in human resources for Rudolph Libbe, Inc, S&R Equipment and Hickory Farms in the greater Toledo area and Robinair in Montpelier, Ohio. Continuing as a consultant in the human resources field, he worked with people who were displaced from their jobs and helped them find other employment in the same area where they lived. He then became self-employed with his painting business, known by many as “Painterman.” Mr. Asendorf was a master gardener and some of his volunteer work is evident in the trees and shrubs planted at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He also had a candid connection with the elderly, helping them with repairs on their homes and taking meals to the shut-ins of his church. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee. Mr. Asendrof is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joanie (McCrackin) Asendorf; daughter, Robyn (Chris) Ward of Cumming, Georgia; twin grandsons, Ben and Ryan; brother, Donald (Betty) Asendorf of State College, Pennsylvania; sister, Betty Patton of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and sister in-law, Barbara (Terry) Boyce of Glenview, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother in-law, Gilbert Patton. JAMES BERNATH
James C. Bernath died April 12, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born May 18, 1948, in Adrian, Michigan, to Charles and Irma (McCarty) Bernath. He graduated from Perrysburg High School through Penta County in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Mr. Bernath is survived by his children, Rebecca and Nicholas (Lisa) Bernath, and granddaughter, Jaylee Anne, all of Holland, Ohio; sister, Annette (Jerry) Barker of Jackson, Michigan, and brothers, Dennis (Denise) of Perrysburg, and Terry of Toledo, and many cousins, nephews, and a niece. RICHARD MARSHALL BROWN

Richard Marshall Brown, 36, of Falls Church, Virginia, died Thursday, April 17, 2008. A native of Perrysburg, he graduated from St. John’s Jesuit High School in 1990, and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, in 1994. He moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1997, and worked for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (TNT) program in the National Capital Area. He was instrumental in creating TNT’s in-line-skating program nationwide. He was last acting as the senior exposition manager for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He enjoyed in-line-skating, sailing, hiking, fly fishing and Detroit sports teams. He hiked the Colorado Rockies, Mount Washington in January, and Old Rag. He enjoyed summer vacations at Menonaqua Beach on Little Traverse Bay in Michigan. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Karin (Willner) of Falls Church; parents, Rick and Ginger Brown of Perrysburg; sister, Molly (Kirk) Hallett and their sons, Thomas and Charles. He also is survived by his uncles and aunts, Robert and Barbara Coon of Perrysburg, Robert and Ruth Brown of Seattle, Washington, and Timothy and Trisha Brown of Harbor Springs, Michigan. A celebration of his life was held in Alexandria, Virginia. MATTHEW KEHOE

Matthew Kehoe, 84, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. He was born in Wexford County, Ireland, to Matthew and Elizabeth (Hoare) Kehoe, and had worked in the family butcher shop. In 1949, he came to the United States and met Eleanor Carson at a family gathering. They were married in Dearborn, Michigan, on July 2, 1960. For more than 35 years, Mr. Kehoe worked for JL Hudson’s Department store in the warehouse, delivering items to various departments. In 1999, he became a U.S. citizen. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, swimming in his younger years, walking, and gardening at the 577 Foundation. He had an affinity for animals, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Danny) Sackett of Perrysburg; son, Daniel (Stephanie) Kehoe of Plainfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Sackett, Patrick, Rachelle and Brett Patterson, and Dustin and Nicholas Kehoe; sisters, Kitty (Pat) Hayes and Molly (Tom) Doyle, and nieces and nephews who reside in Ireland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; brothers, James and Andy Kehoe; and sister, Betty Coleman. A Scripture Service was held April 28, in the Wit-zler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 29, in All Saints Catholic Church in Ross-ford. Burial was private in Greenwood Cemetery in East Tawas, Michigan.


SHARON SKELLY
Sharon L. (Hoffman) Skelly, 72, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her home. Born in Perrysburg, she was a homemaker and formerly served on the board of the Fort Wayne Humane Shelter. She graduated from Central Catholic School, attended Indiana University and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, ceramics, gardening and animals. She is survived by her husband, David Skelly of Fort Wayne; sons, David Skelly of Fort Wayne and Peter (Mollee) Skelly of Zionsville; daughter, Sheila (Paul) Counterman of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Connor, Logan, Carson Skelly, Benjamin, and Claire Counterman, and sisters, Susan (Edward) Thompson of Fort Wayne and Sarah (Randy) Witte of Hoagland. ZELTA DAUER

Zelta N. (Kazmaier) Dauer, 88, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green. She was born December 6, 1919, to Clyde and Elma (Kopp) Kazmaier. She married Jonathan Dauer on October 2, 1943. She graduated from Perrysburg High School and was an active and lifelong member of Zoar Lutheran Church. She was a long time member of Homemakers Farm Bureau Council. Ms. Dauer is survived by her daughter, Karen Dauer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; son, Ronald Dauer of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Christopher (Amy), Mary (Brian) and Matthew (Sommer); great-grandchildren, Matthew and Logan Dauer and Gavin Gill; step-greatgrandchild, Courtney Summerville; sister-in-law, Ella Kazmaier; nieces, Julie (Jeff) Zollars, Kimberly (Erik) Stier, Susan Kazmaier, Laura (James) Pauken, Rose Marie (Jerry) Crawford, Barbara (Gary) Mussett; nephews, Eldon (Valerie) Spilker, Robert (Gaye) Dauer, Richard (Joyce) Dauer and Paul Myers. GUY DELANEY JR.
Guy Earnest Delaney Jr., 84, of Perrysburg, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on June 9, 1923, in West Newton, Pennsylvania, to Guy and Lillian (Markle) Delaney. He served in the Army during World War II in the European theater of operation. He married Theresa Roach and they moved from Pennsylvania to Perrysburg, where he began a career with Washington Distributors, owner of Bargain City Stores. Mr. Delaney worked in various capacities, from supervisor to buyer, until the early 1980s. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, where he served as an usher for more than 30 years. For the past year, he attended Dayspring Assembly of God in Bowling Green, Ohio. He also was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6170, Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 1850. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughters, Deborah (Richard) Murphy and Sara (Jack) DeCessna; grandchildren, Reshma Derasari, Amol Raval, Jeanette, Joshua and Rebekah Murphy, John and Laura DeCessna; greatgrandchildren, Reyna and Dylan Derasari, and brother, Oliver Delaney. ANNA MARTIS
Anna (Duricek) Martis, 95, of Rossford, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Harborside of Perrysburg, where she was a resident for 12 years. She was born on July 23, 1912, to Nicholas “Mike” and Mary (Kolumbus) Duricek in Biloxi, Mississippi. Her family moved to Rossford in 1915. She married Steve Martis, on June 30, 1931. Ms. Martis volunteered for many years at her church, Sts. Cyril and Methodius (later the unified All Saints), where she was active in the Altar Sodality and shared her talents in the parish kitchen. She took pride in her Slovak heritage, passing down holiday traditions and sharing homemade kolaeky, nut rolls and other delicacies with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Joseph) Andryc and James (Gerri) Martis, both of Rossford; grandchildren, Philip (Linda) Andryc, Joel (Nancy) Andryc, David (Mary) Andryc, Cheryl (Mark) Cassin, James (Leslie) Martis, Daniel (Rachel) Martis and Kathleen (Chad) Schliesser; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Sheridan of Lancaster, Ohio, and Irene Pastorek of Rossford; sisters-in-law, Barbara Duricek and Ann Duricek, both of Rossford; brother-in-law, Joseph Martis of Perrysburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, in 1982; her brothers, Peter, Joseph, Anthony, Cyril and Charles, and sisters, Margaret Kilis and Mary. DOROTHY RYBICKI
Dorothy A. (Miller) Rybicki, 94, of Plymouth, Michigan, and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Plymouth Inn Assisted Care Living in Plymouth. She was born in Toledo, on September 11, 1913, to Joseph and Emma (Michaelis) Miller. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. In 1948, she married Casper Rybicki. She worked as a clerical supervisor for Rossford ordnance for 15 years and had owned various apartment complexes and a motel while living in Fort Lauderdale. She is survived by her nephew, Robert (Dorothy) Welch of Perrysburg; greatnephews, Robert (Sally Straits) Welch, M.D. of Canton, Michigan, John (Sally) Welch of Perrysburg, and Matthew (Brenda) Welch of Perrysburg; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews, and eight greatgreat- great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper, in 1970. Eliza Lammie Schoonover, 85, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Parkcliffe Community Center. She was born in Shelburn, Indiana, on March 4, 1923, to William and Charlotte (Dixon) Lammie. She married Harry Don Schoonover in 1942. Mrs. Schoonover worked for 32 years for Champion Spark Plug as a department supervisor for the insurance department. She was a member of Champion Spark Plug Quarter Century Group and an avid bridge player. She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Carl) Soper of Lexington, Kentucky, and Terri (Randy) Morlock of Bowling Green, Ohio; grandchildren, Jodi Morlock, Rusty (Kelsey) Morlock, David (Alicia) Soper and Shawna Soper, and brother, Donald (Lucretia) Lammie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1992. She also was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers. MARY ELLEN WARCHOL
Mary Ellen Warchol, 85, of Toledo, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on April 5, 1923, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Dale and Esther (Armitage) Gallier. She was a 1942 graduate of Rossford High School, where she was one of the first majorettes. She married Louis Warchol in 1942. Ms. Warchol worked as a telephone operator for the Toledo Hospital for many years. She enjoyed sewing, making dolls and baking for family and friends. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Bob) Chromik and William Warchol; grandchildren, Bobby Chromik, Carolyn (Rob) Sellers, Christie Warchol, Eric Warchol and Katie Warchol; sisters-in-law, Maggie Warchol and Nedra Gallier; brother-in-law, Marcus Mack, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis. Funeral services were held April 18, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, with the Rev. Merlin Jacobs of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Helen L. Griner, 87, of Perrysburg Township, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at her home. She was born in Lime City, Ohio, on August 21, 1920, to Earl and Cora (Snyder) Griner. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dowling, Ohio, and had worked for more than 20 years with Columbia Gas as a payroll clerk. She retired in 1982.She is survived by her brothers, Victor (Mary Jane) Griner of Perrysburg, Herbert (Phyllis) Griner of Perrysburg; sisters, Norma Reitzel of Perrysburg, Geraldine Habel of Mill-bury, and Jeanetta (George) Leslie of Northwood, and many nieces and nephews.There was no visitation. Marie Evelyn (Strayer) Brooks, 90, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Harborside of Perrysburg. She was born in Waterville, Ohio, on January 11, 1918, to Guy and Pearl (Mastin) Strayer. She received a degree in home economics from the University of Toledo. She was a teacher for the state of California and had worked in an aircraft factory. Upon returning to the Toledo area, she worked in a factory in Waterville. She married Clyde Brooks at the WashingtonD.C. Temple and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Perrysburg and the John Birch Society.She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Abbott of Arizona, and Harriet (Don) Eckel of Perrysburg; son, John (Suzanne) Brooks of Haskins, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Wayne (Abbi) Strayer of Waterville, and sisters, Beatrice Rister of Waterville, Bernita Podolak of Haskins, Janice Smith of Whitehouse, Betty (Richard) Huss of Blufton, Ohio, and Shirley (James) Carrol of White-house. John K. “Joe” Bailey, 65, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born February 25, 1943, in Warren, Ohio, to Delmore and Alberta (Prickett) Bailey. He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1961, and from the Ohio State University in 1965. He earned a master of arts degree from the University of Toledo in 1969.Following his first teaching position in Cincinnati, he taught social studies at Sylvania and Whit-mer high schools from 1965 to 1969. After earning a Ph.D. degree from the University of Toledo in 1972, he began his administrative career as principal of Crestview High School near Ashland, and went on to serve as an administrator and professor at Miami University from 1975 to 1978, and assistant superintendent of Hamilton City Schools from 1978 to 1979.He led the Perrysburg Public Schools as superintendent from 1979 to 1992, then taught at Bowling Green State University until his retirement from public school administration in 1995. Since 1995, he has served as professor and administrator at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio, where he was working at the time of his death.He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (Croft) Bailey; son, John Whetstone (Tammy) Bailey; daughter, (Marjorie) Beth Mullins; grandchildren, Johnny, Eliza, Jasmine, Chance, David and Jimmy; brother, Larry (Lovetta) Bailey; sister-inlaw, Susan Bailey; motherin-law, Jane Croft; broth-ers-in-law, Bill (Jo) Croft, Gary (Carolyn) Bain and Don (Sue) Bain, and 13 nieces and nephews. Carlene J. “CJ” (Gerkensmeyer) Behrens, 72, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30, 2008, in St. Luke’s Hospital.She graduated from Genoa High School in 1954, attended Capital University, and graduated from Toledo Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1958. After working in Toledo Hospital for many years, she then entered the industrial nursing field and ran the health department at the former National Castings plant in East Toledo for 17 years. She retired from Owens-Illinois’ Riverside Health Care center in Levis Park in 2000.She is survived by her children, Amy (Scott) Steele of Perrysburg, Carl (Lori) Behrens of Toledo, and John Behrens of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Ellen and Molly Steele, and Katherine and Christian Behrens, and brother, Ronald (Diane) Gerkensmeyer, of Williston, Ohio.It was Carlene’s wish to support the education of future doctors and nurses, and she donated her body to the University of Toledo’s College of Medicine. John P. Hutchek, 74, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He was a 1952 graduate of Perrysburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He worked for the Rossford Ordnance Depot, Erie Ordnance Depot and the Detroit Arsenal, where he was in charge of inventory, retiring in 1978. Ronald Dean Simmons Sr., 72, of Sarasota, Florida, and formerly of Perrysburg, died March 24, 2008, in Sarasota.He was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Donald and Jessie (Kramer) Simmons. He graduated in 1954 from Perrysburg High School and received a basketball scholarship to Ohio State University, where he was an active member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and graduated with a business degree in 1958.As an executive of Owens-Illinois for more than 20 years, Mr. Simmons traveled extensively and lived in many cities throughout the United States. He ultimately settled in Perrysburg with his family and after his retirement, he and his wife moved to Sarasota in 1993. He was an avid outdoors-man. His interests included hunting and fishing, as well as politics, sports, and the arts.He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Simmons of Brooklyn, New York, Ronald Simmons of Tampa, Florida, Bethany Simmons and Jessica Simmons, both of Sarasota; grandchildren: Zachary, Nicholas, Arthur and Oscar Simmons, and Evan and Braden Cressell Simmons; brothers, Donald and Jack Simmons, both of Perrysburg, and sister, Jane Caple of Boca Grande, Florida. Harry C. “The Whaler” Whaley, 84, of Perrysburg, died Saturday, March 29, 2008. He was born on September 10, 1923, in Oak-dale, Tennessee, to David and Clara (Koontz) Whaley. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant serving in the Pacific during World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a conductor and brakeman for B&O Railroad, Chessie and CSX for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Whaley was a member of Moose Lodge of Oak Harbor and the DAV in Toledo. He also was an active member of UTU Local 1816, where he held many offices. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Mr. Whaley is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anna Mae (Gabele) Whaley; children, Larry Whaley of Perrysburg, Gloria (Robert) Walter of Perrysburg and Barbara (Dan) Pindoley of Waterville; step-children, Ken (Tammy) Blair of Waterville, Dennis (Becky) Blair of Rossford, Teresa (Mark) Schiess of California and Doug (Stephanie) Blair of Toledo; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Warren (Mary Ann) of Florida, and Wayne Whaley of North Carolina, and sister, Peggy Dowell of Tennessee. MOHAMMED-NAZIH HAMMOUD, Ph.D.
Mohammed-Nazih I. Hammoud, Ph.D., 69, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Born in Karoun, Lebanon to Izzideen and Fatima Hammoud, he was a graduate of the Lebanese University and Purdue University, where he earned his Ph.D.
He worked as director of scholarships for the late Prime Minister of Lebanon, Rafiq Hariri, at The Hariri Foundation. This Foundation was established to send Lebanese students out of war-torn Lebanon to pursue education.
He was a professor at The American University of Beirut. He and his young family returned to northwest Ohio, where he continued to educate at Bowling Green State University, the University of Toledo and Owens Community College until his health forced him to retire.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Catherine Louise (Adray) Hammoud; daughters, Rima Deal of Perrysburg and Abrar (Mohamad) El-Abiad of West Lafayette, Indiana; Logan Deal and Safia El-Abiad; brother, Nabil, and sisters, Maha and Naimet of Lebanon; cousin, Chafic Hatoum of Sylvania, and several special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amal; brothers, Samir, Burhan and Mohammed Hammoud.
Services were held March 3, at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, Perrysburg. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens. Arrangements were handled by Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg

SALLY HOFFMANN
Sally Netz Hoffmann died Saturday, March 15, 2008. She was born in Toledo, to Aileen and Ralph Netz. She graduated from Perrysburg High School and McCalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, she performed as lead dancer with the school's modern dance troupe and was choreographer for the Minnesota Symphony.
Mrs. Hoffmann was a Roman Catholic by faith. She was an avid supporter of historic preservation and restoration.
She enjoyed gardening, creating art, reading, antiquing and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles; daughters, Terri Hoffmann of Kent, Ohio, Tina (Glenn) Szatala of Huron, Ohio, Tami (Tim) Walker of Lisbon, Ohio, and Tracey (Steve) Frederick of Green Cove Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Laura, Alex, Ashley, Stevie and Sarah, and brother, Robert (Patricia) Netz of Angola, Indiana.
Private services were held March 17, at the Weber Funeral Home, with the Rev. Father Robert Edwards officiating. Friends were received March 18, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, where the Rosary was recited.
Prayers will be recited in the funeral home today, March 19, at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg. Private graveside services will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.

DONALD "PAZ" MAZUR
Donald F. "Paz" Mazur, 78, a lifelong resident of Rossford, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on December 15, 1929, to Felix and Mary (Smietana) Mazur. He married Florence (Dombkowski) Hennessy in Toledo, on January 22, 1965, and renewed those vows on November 14, 1991, at All Saints Catholic Church, Rossford.
He attended St. Mary Magdalene Elementary School, and Rossford High School. He followed his brothers in service to his country in 1951, with the Army, in both Germany and Korea. Upon his return, he went to work for the Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. (Pilkington), bending department for 43 years, until his retirement.
He was a member of VFW Post 6409 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2322, both of Rossford. He volunteered in the kitchen for VFW dinners. He also enjoyed having coffee with friends at the Rossford donut shop and lunches and dinners with his second "family" at Moody's Coney Island Diner.
Mr. Mazur is survived by his sister, Cazamia (Kate) Schmidt of Palm Harbor, Florida; sister-in-law, Angela (Irv) Mazur; special nieces and their families, Kathi (Mazur) and Warren (Buss) Mahaffey, and Dorothy and Wilbur Brock; special goddaughter, Heather, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on May 26, 2003. He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Zaracky, Stella Bicanovsky, Genevieve Wieczorek, Florence Strze-lecki; brothers, Joe, Ed and Irving Mazur.
VFW services were held March 14, at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford. A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 15, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Wight officiating. Entombment was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Patricia A. Minneker, 64, of Perrysburg, died March 4, 2008.
She is survived by three cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Al and Mary Schultze, and twin sister, Sandy Ignasiak.

Jacquelin Reifsnider, 92, a long-time resident of Perrysburg, died on February 29, 2008 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Miss Reifsnider was born in St. Luke's Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, to John and Urme Mae (Rummel) Reifsnider.
She was a graduate of The Baldwin School and Mills College. Miss Reif-snider was a Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II and then employed by the U.S. Department of State, where she served in Washington D.C., Japan and India.
She was an avid tennis player and supporter of animal rights.
She is survived by her niece, Jacquelin Hirth Lewis and her family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucy Reifsnider Hirth Cornish, a 50-year resident of Perrysburg.
A memorial graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery later this spring.

RONALD SHELDRICK

RONALD SHELDRICK
Ronald C. Sheldrick, 85, died March 4, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born December 6, 1922, in Has-kins, Ohio, to R. Roy and Bernice (Ollige) Sheldrick. He was a 1942 graduate of Tontogany High School, where he played basketball and ran track.
Mr. Sheldrick was an U.S. Army veteran with the 433rd Ordnance Motor Vehicle Assembly, serving during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was stationed overseas for 24 months. He married Margaret Wolf in Zoar Lutheran Church on June 17, 1950.
He was a lifelong farmer and became a farm drainage contractor. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, a member of the Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers Association, where he served as secretary/treasurer and a director for many years. He also served as secretary/treasurer for the Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association and was a member of National Land Improvement Contractors Association, Power of Yesteryear Antique Tractor Club, where he served on the board of directors from 1988 to 1996. He belonged to the state and national antique tractor associations. He also served as a Perrysburg Township Trustee, past President of Wood County Trustees and Clerks Association, Fort Meigs Cemetery Board, where he designed the layout for the new addition to the cemetery and was on the board of directors for Luckey Farmers Inc.
He belonged to the Wood County Community Improvement Corporation and was on the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committee for 17 years with Wood County, and also served on the Township committee. Mr. Sheldrick also was past president of the Wood County Shrine. He belonged to many other organizations, including the Phoenix Lodge #123 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, and Zenobia Lancers. He also was one of the founding members of the Five Point Steam Threshers Club.
He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball for Carl Schmidt teams, bowling and fishing, and collecting, refinishing and pulling antique tractors, which led to many of the organizations in which he participated. He also enjoyed working at tractor pulls.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Marilyn "Susie" (Clyde) Bame of Perrysburg, Patricia (William) Swope of Perrysburg, Daniel (Amy) Sheldrick of Bowling Green, Nancy (Nick) Wilson of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Christina (James) Kieper, Jennifer Bame, Jeffrey Bame, Abigail and Jacob Sheldrick; step-grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Wilson, Greg (Sarah) Bell, Jason Bell, Ryan and Logan Wilson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cassi and Jordan Kieper and Andrew McKay; sisters, Dorothy (Gerald) Cromley and Lois Heinze; brother, Richard (Donelda) Sheldrick; sisters-in-law, Shirley Sheldrick and Dorothy Bruning; brothers- in-law, Harold (Alma) Wolf and Arnold (Betty) Wolf; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Dody Gurtzweiler and Roger Williams. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Phillips Myers, and brother, Thomas Sheldrick.
A Masonic service was held March 7, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Funeral services were held March 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, with the Rev. Daniel Beaudoin officiating. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery.

Teresa Elizabeth (Pepper) Williams, 45, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2008, in Toledo. She was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, on June 7, 1962, to Dr. George and Joanne (Meyer) Pepper. She was a 1980 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
She was currently working as a server and bartender with Buffalo Wild Wings and J Patrick's Restaurant at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg, and had recently begun classes to become a flight attendant.
She enjoyed boating and was a social member of the Harbor View Yacht Club. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, arts and crafts and spending time with her children.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Doug; twin daughters, Amber Gross of Perrysburg and Autumn Haedrich of Toledo; sons, Weston and Spencer Williams, both of Perrysburg; granddaughter, Rhylee Gross of Perrysburg; parents, Dr. George and Joanne Pepper of Bloomsburg; sisters, Anne Baer of Minnesota, Catherine Pepper Flick of Pennsylvania and Mary Harrington of Georgia; brothers, George Pepper, Jr. of Pennsylvania and James Pepper of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews and mother-in-law, Bertha Williams of Pennsylvania.
Funeral services were held March 15, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Bloomsburg. Burial was private.

BARBARA ANDERSON
Barbara Ann (Perry) Anderson, 68, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born February 14, 1940, in Toledo, and was raised by parents, Charles and Helen Youngman. She married John Anderson on February 10, 1962.
She worked for more than 20 years at Bittersweet Farms and was currently working there one day a week. She also taught at the Children's Theatre in Toledo, and was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Bill) Rickman of Perrysburg; son, John (Laurie Schlegel) Anderson of Holland, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa, Angela, John, Samantha, Lucas and Jakob; brothers, David (Inge) Youngman, Dennis Youngman and Bill (Jenny) Youngman; sisters, Marylin (Larry Laberdie) Kopkau and Shelly Collins; many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jeanie Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John, on August 27, 1989.
Funeral services were held March 8, at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Ann Marshall officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.

IDA CASEY

IDA CASEY
Ida Theres (Zender) Casey, 87, of Perrysburg, died March 8, 2008, at her home. She was born on May 2, 1920, in New Riegel, Ohio. She was the youngest of five children born to John and Bernice Lease Zender. Her father was the founder of the Bank of New Riegel and was in the hardware and farm implement business. After high school, she graduated from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo. She practiced as a surgical nurse until her marriage to Peter Casey, Jr. of Toledo in 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Casey ran an outdoor advertising business. They resided in Ottawa Hills and then Perrysburg.
Her interests, other than spending time with her children and grandchildren, included helping out at school, volunteering for the Red Cross, playing bridge, working the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, traveling, dining out, good conversation, parties and listening to her favorite music.
She is survived by her children, Peter (Peggy) Casey III, Patrice (Lyman) Spitzer, and Philip (Beth) Casey, all of Perrysburg, and Pamela (Richard) Dybvig of Tunbridge, Vermont; grandchildren, P.R. (Joyce) Casey IV, Elizabeth Casey, Emily (Jonathan) Bailey, Hannah Casey, Maxfield Casey Dybvig, Lyman "Casey" Spitzer, Philip "Jamie" Casey, Sarah Casey and Claire Casey; great-grandchildren, Reilly and Rowan Casey and Finnegan Bailey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Peter, in 1997.
Visitation will be held today, March 12, from 3 to 8 p.m., at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, March 13, at 10:15 a.m., at St. Rose Church, 217 East Front Street, Perrysburg. Burial will be private.

Ann W. Caswell, 94, of Perrysburg, died Monday, March 3, 2008, in the Manor at Perrysburg. She was born in the Ukraine on January 25, 1914, to Michael and Mary (Roman) Watrol. She was married to Harry Caswell. She was a member of the Toledo Artist's Club and St. Rose Catholic Church, where she served in its Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by daughters, Colleen (Robert) Ryder of Maumee, and Elaine Caswell of New York City; sons, James (Janis) Caswell of New York City and Kenneth (Lynn) Caswell of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Brett Ryder, Cannon Caswell, Chase Caswell, Bryn Caswell; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Remington Ryder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on January 5, 2003.
Funeral services will be held today, March 12, at 10 a.m., in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.

MARGARET ECKEL
Margaret L. (Campeau) Eckel, 77, of Perrysburg, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at The Kingston Residence in Perrysburg. She was born August 4, 1930, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Joseph and Laverne Campeau, and had attended Bowling Green State University. On May 7, 1955, she married Donald Eckel.
For more than 10 years, Ms. Eckel worked in the offices at Libbey-Owens-Ford. She was a volunteer with the Wood County Humane Society and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg, where she was active in the Women's Association and the choir. She was a member of the Suburban Singers of Perrysburg and enjoyed being outdoors in nature, bird watching and spending time with her dogs.
She is survived by her son, Jon (Lisa) Eckel of Perrysburg; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Sees of Crystal Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Joel, Cassie, Jake and Jon Eckel and Christian Sees; special neighbors at Carolin Court and Ken and Sue Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on December 25, 2006.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, at the First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg, 200 East Second Street, with The Rev. Jeanne Kumbalek officiating. Burial will be private and there will be no visitation. Arrangements were made by the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.

BETTY KOZLOK
Betty L. Kozlok, 86, of Port Clinton, died March 5, 2008, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born August 22, 1921, in Amsterdam, Ohio, to Albin and Jessie (Brown) Truex.
She married Emil Kozlok on June 21, 1942. She was employed at the Standard Products Company during the war while raising their new daughter alone as her husband was serving in World War II. She retired in 1980 from the former Perry Pharmacy. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Sunrise Garden Club and a member of the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by her husband, Emil; daughter, Sandra (Otto) Geggus of Perrysburg; grandsons Eric (Carrie) Geggus of Maumee and Kurt Geggus of Seattle; great-grandson, Liam Geggus; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sampson of Port Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Kozlok, Pauline Below, Lucille Newell, Ralph, Glenn, Meryl, Donald and Lawrence Truex.
Funeral services were held March 10, at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, with the Rev. Bruce Batchelor-Glader officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.

James M. Miller, 70, of Perrysburg, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Castalia, Ohio, on December 15, 1937, to Harry and Dorothy Miller. Mr. Miller was a 1955 graduate of Margaretta High School and a 1961 graduate of Ohio State University, where he received his bachelor's degree. He married Barbara Hinesman on November 11, 1961.
He was employed for 40 years by the Arcadis Engineering firm, formerly known as Finkbeiner, Petis and Strout. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Miller; daughters, Jennifer Miller of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Jean (Mark) McMahon of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Blues, Marley and Israel McMahon; brother, Wayne (Martha) Miller of Castalia, and sister, Marilyn (Cletus) Kanney of New Washington, Ohio.
Funeral services were held March 9, at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, with Mr. MillerÕs son-in-law, the Rev. Mark McMahon, officiating. Burial was private.

EARL ORENDORFF
Earl F. Orendorff, 82, of Perrysburg, died March 2, 2008. Born in Silver Run, Maryland, he was the son of Edgar and Myrtle (Staley) Orendorff.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Merchant Marines in the South Pacific. He was one of the original members of Company C. 164th Military Police Battalion, Pennsylvania National Guard of Hanover. He retired from Monumental Life Insurance Company, Baltimore, Maryland, after serving 28 years as a life insurance salesman in Toledo. The past 12 years he was employed by Hampton Inn in Toledo, and the Fort Meigs YMCA.
He was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, where he served for more than 40 years on the senior choir, was past member of Church Council, Worship Committee, Stewardship Committee, usher, lector and assisting minister.
Mr. Orendorff was a past commander and life member of Perrysburg American Legion Post 28. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge #123 F&AM, past secretary-treasurer of Phoenix Temple Co. Fort Meigs Chapter #29, RAM, Calumet Council #133 Royal and Select Masons of Ohio Stomer Commandery #59, Knights Templar, Secretary of the Stewards unit of Zenobia Shrine Temple AAONMWS of Toledo, Wood County Shrine Club and member of the Wood County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Gemuenden); daughter, Tenley Orendorff of Canton, Ohio; stepsons, James (Marla) Gemuenden Jr. of Atlanta, Thomas (Linda) Gemuenden of Warren, Ohio, John (Debbie) Gemuenden of Canton, Georgia, and Michael (Pam) Gemuenden of Ackworth, Georgia; sister, Alice O'Donnell of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania; seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Robert Orendorff.
Visitation was held March 5, at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, where a Masonic service took place at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service was held March 6, at Zoar Lutheran Church, with private burial in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery, with the American Legion providing military honors.

John Michael Stanford, 27, died March 6, 2008. Born in Toledo, on December 26 1980, he was a National Merit Finalist graduate from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1999. He attended Ohio State University on an academic scholarship and graduated in 2003. He was employed in accounting and finance positions by Bunting Bearings Corp. in Toledo and by The Scotts Company in Marysville, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica (Taylor) and son, Aaron "AJ"; parents, Stephen and Linda; sister, Jessica; brother, Michael; grandparents, Harry and Gertrude Cornell; mother-in-law, Pam (Nick) Volchko; father-in-law, Richard (Cindi) Taylor; sisters-in-law Bethany Taylor and Nicole Volchko; brothers-in-law, Kameron and Teddy Volchko, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Caroline Stanford.

SHARON HENDEL

Sharon "Sherry" Hendel, 60, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 18, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. She was born in Newark, Ohio, on April 5, 1947, to Ralph and Mary Ellen Rector and was married on June 14, 1969, in Perrysburg, to Gregory Hendel.
She was a 1965 graduate of Newark High School, graduating first in her class of 564. She received a bachelor of science in education degree (1968) and a master of arts in teaching (mathematics) degree (1972) from Bowling Green State University. She earned her juris doctorate degree from the University of Toledo in 1994 and became a certified financial planner in 2000. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mrs. Hendel was a math and computer science teacher in Perrysburg, Bowling Green and Maumee public schools. She was a law clerk for Sylvania Municipal Court Judge M. Scott Ramey and for Lucas County Court of Common Pleas Judge Frederick McDonald. From 1995 until January of 2007, she was a partner in the law firm of Croy & Hendel, LLP with offices in Perrysburg and Waterville, concentrating on estate planning, probate administration, tax planning and real estate. She was currently a member of the law firm of Robinson Curphey & OÕConnell after their firms merged in January of 2007.
Mrs. Hendel was a member of the Ohio State, Michigan, Lucas County, Toledo and Wood County bar associations. Her community associations included the Toledo Estate Planning Council (board of directors), the Perrysburg Kiwanis Club (treasurer), Sunset Retirement Communities (past member on board of directors) Abundant Life of Perrysburg (past president and member of board of directors) Perrysburg Area Chamber of Commerce (past treasurer) and the Perrysburg League of Women Voters (past membership chair). She also was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, Belmont Country Club and Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, where she served on the board of directors of the Church Foundation. She enjoyed golf, bridge, art, antiques, travel and water sports.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory; mother-in-law, Carol Hendel; sister-in-law, Barbara Hendel; brother-in-law, Douglas (Ann) Hendel; niece, Emily Hendel (Matt Lang); nephew, Mark Hendel; goddaughter, Coeli Janiak, and special family members, Libby and Matti; long-time law partner, Paul Croy; cousins and special friends, Bruce and Michele Janiak and Timm and Bonnie Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca (Becky), and father-in-law, William Hendel.
Funeral services were held February 22, at Zoar Lutheran Church. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.

DONALD HULL
Donald Ross Hull, 84, of Beaufort, South Carolina, died Monday, February 11, 2008. He was born on May 8, 1923, in Niagara Falls, New York, to Edna (Swan) and Bennett Hull.
He graduated in 1940 from La Salle High School in New York. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and a degree in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a private, and served in Europe. He stayed in the reserve and was discharged as a captain in 1958.
He married Margot Jean Hultzen on July 16, 1949. Mr. Hull worked for the Prestolite Corporation for more than 20 years, achieving the position of vice president/director of manufacturing. He then founded the Dynalite Corporation, a battery manufacturing company, with operations in Ohio and Michigan. He raised his family in Perrysburg, where he served on the school board and in several other volunteer positions. An enthusiastic entrepreneur, he also founded the Hull Golf Company and patented his design of single length, swing-engineered golf clubs.
As an avid golfer, he was a member of several country clubs in Ohio and Florida. He and his wife retired to the Stuart, Florida, area in 1986, and moved to Bluffton, South Carolina, in 2000. Mr. Hull moved to Beaufort in 2007. He was active in his churches in Ohio, Florida and South Carolina. He enjoyed teaching Bible studies and periodically speaking at retirement communities.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and John Kozlowski of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Sharon and James Simons of Perrysburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Joan (Whitney) Hull of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Donald and Susan (Raab) Hull of Castle Rock, Colorado, William Hull of Louisville, Kentucky, and Robert and Debra (May) Hull of Bluffton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jacob Kozlowski, John Kozlowski, Jr., Holly Kozlowski, Margaret Hull, Eric Hull, Andrew Simons, Camaron Simons-Young, Joshua Hull, Alison Hull, Meghan Hull, Matthew Hull, Michael Hull, Emery Hull, and Sydney Hull; great-grandchildren, Hannah Young and Elijah Young. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margot, in 2006. He also was preceded in death by his brother, James Hull.
His life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m., at Grace Community Church, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Inurnment at the Beaufort National Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are being made by the Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton.

BOBBY PARRISH

Bobby V. Parrish died February 19, 2008, in Minnesota. He was born in Fairfield, Illinois, on January 3, 1922, to Thomas and Elizabeth Parrish. He was the first of four children, Milton, Tom and Rose Marie followed. They were orphaned when parents Tom and Elizabeth, grandfather and grandmother Parrish were killed in a car-train accident just outside Perrysburg, in April of 1931. The four children were taken by relatives and raised separately.
At the beginning of World War II, Mr. Parrish enlisted in the Army Air Force and served as staff sergeant under General Curtice LaMay. He served in Calcutta, India, and the Pacific theater. He ended the war on the island of Tinian, witnessing the Enola Gay take off with the first A-bomb, and was instrumental in the invasion taskforce against Japan. He returned to the United States and became a successful and well known, home-builder in the Toledo area. He also served as township zoning inspector for Perrysburg for many decades.
He married Alice Mutchler in May 1946, and adopted her two children, Doug and Kay. In 1950 their youngest son, Tom, was born.
Mr. Parrish was a long-time member of Zoar Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, who resides with their son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jan, in St. Paul, Minnesota; daughter, Kay of Toledo; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Milton, Tom and Rose Marie, and son, Doug in August 2006.
A memorial service will be conducted at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Ohio on Saturday March 1, at 11 a.m. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Fort Meigs Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church.

NORMAN ROOD

Norman Jack Rood, 78, of Perrysburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 18, 2008, at his home in Bradenton, Florida. He was born October 27, 1929, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Lloyd and Gertrude (Garno) Rood. He was a graduate of Bowling Green High School. Mr. Rood was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Before his retirement, he was chairman of the board, treasurer and chief executive officer of the Suburban Natural Gas Company. He spent his entire business life in the operation and management of the Suburban Natural Gas Company, formally Consumers Natural Gas Company, and affiliated enterprises. Simultaneously he served in the management of the Cygnet Savings Bank within which he rose to the position of president and chief executive officer prior to its sale to TrustCorp of Toledo, in 1973. He served on the board of trustees of Bowling Green State University.
He was an active participant in various business organizations, civic and charitable endeavors. He also served as president of the Wood County Democratic Club. He was a member of the Brandywine Country Club, Belmont Country Club, Rosedale Country Club, the Maumee Elks, Rockwell Springs Trout Club, Chaine Des Rotisseurs and St. Rose Catholic Church. His interests included golf, fishing, traveling, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Bryan Rood of Powell, Ohio; daughter, Laura Rood of Brandon, Florida; brothers, James Rood of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Stan Rood of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Nola Shiets of Bowling Green, and brother-in-law, Joe Barker of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalyn Schwyn; brothers, Robert and Don Rood, and sister, Genelle Torok.
Scripture services were held February 25, in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg. Prayers were recited February 26, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery.

Leona Elaine Stanford, 86, of Perrysburg, and formerly of Toledo, died February 18, 2008. She was born in Peoria, Ohio, on October 30, 1921, to Jacob Sarver and Mary Opphile Sarver. She married Wilbur Stanford on April 19, 1941. She was a member of the Church of the Cross United Methodist, Toledo.
Ms. Stanford is survived by her son, Wilbur (Patricia) Stanford of Toledo; daughters, Dixie (Richard) Miller of Perrysburg, Joyce ÒJoeyÓ (Eric) Hallenbeck of Flat Rock, Michigan, and daughter, Linda Stanford of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Steven (Paula) Stanford of Maumee, Lisa (Mike) Gramza of Maumee, Rebecca (Bill) Costelli of McCulla, Alabama, Christopher (Tracie) Stanford of Whitehouse, Ohio, Mary (Eric) Hilbert of Perrysburg, Elizabeth (Steve) Racheter of Toledo, James Murray of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, Adam (Nicole) Murray of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Megan and Erin Finch of Perrysburg; great-grandchildren, Meredith, Brittany, Brody, Alexa, Kristin, Ben, Jessica, Richie, Kyle, and Emily; great-great-granddaughter, Mariah, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wilbur Stanford Sr.; son James Stanford; brothers, Jacob, Franklin, Charles, and John; sisters, Elizabeth, Mildred Wood, Helen Clark, Alice Mitchell, Mary Martin, Florence Appleman, Martha Donaugh, Winifred Sarver, and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held February 23, at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating. Burial was in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg.
