MARGARET LIGGETT
Margaret Ellen Liggett, 87, of Holland, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the care center of Wolf Creek, where she has resided this past month. She was born November 7, 1920, the daughter of Dwight and Dolores (O’Keefe) Liggett. She was raised in east Toledo. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1938. She was an active alumnae and patron at Central. She retired from People’s Savings Association in 1983, after 37 years of service. Ms. Liggett began her career with People’s as a clerk/typist. She advanced through the ranks, first working in loan closings and then as assistant secretary in the loan department. Eventually she was appointed vice president in charge of loan closing. In 1972, she was named a senior vice president. She was the first woman elected as officer in People’s history. Ms. Liggett was an avid golfer throughout her life and well past her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, having visited Europe and Ireland several times. She enjoyed her Irish heritage. She is survived by her nephews, Dwight (John) and Robert Liggett; nieces, Alice Ross, Alberta Hunt and Amy Szalkowski; cousins, Therese Naumann and Carroll Nunemaker; life long best friend, Kate Andrews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dwight (John), Robert and Thomas. Scripture services were held July 1, in the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass by Father Joseph Steinbauer was celebrated July 2, in Little Flower Church. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial tributes are suggested in the form of contributions to Little Flower Parish or Central Catholic High School.
JANE ROSE
Jane M. Rose, of Holland, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in her home. She was born on June 24, 1924. She was the daughter of Emily and Vernon Osterhoudt. She retired in 1989 after working for 28 years as a secretary for Maumee Metal Treatment. She enjoyed her home, dogs and cats, and fishing with her husband. In retirement, Mrs. Rose was a member of the St. James Club. She is survived by her special friends, neighbors and caregiver, Jan Neyrinck. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Nayland; brothers, Vernon Jr. and Robert, and sister, Dolores. There was no visitation. Arrangements were made by the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home.
LEWIS HARRIS JR. Lewis E. Harris Jr., 87, of Swanton, died April 23, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. He was born November 29, 1920, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, to Lewis and Eva (Dunn) Harris. He was a 1939 graduate of Woodward High School. Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was a survivor of Iwo Jima. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of Local 1138 Carpenters Union. Other memberships include VFW Post 2898, Toledo, OH and Fifth Amphibious Corps of Marine Corps. He attended Providence Lutheran Church. He enjoyed making furniture for his grandchildren. Mr. Harris married Mildred Gerber on September 7, 1977. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; children, Everett (Lana) Harris of Holland, Regina (Ronald) Nale of Sylvania, Debra (Hal) Williams of Maumee, Roger Harris of Holland, Craig (Bev) DeKoeyer of Swanton, and Hugh Hammond of Swanton; 17 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Harris; grandson, RJ Harris; granddaughters, Ashley and Amy Hammond, and brother, Everett Harris. Funeral services were held April 26, at Providence Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis King officiating. Interment with military honors was in Ottawa Hills Cemetery, Toledo. Arrangements were made by the Peinert Funeral Home, Whitehouse, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
WALTER FRIEND Walter C. Friend, 81, of Holland, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in the Harborside Healthcare Center in Point Place. He was born in Toledo, on January 29, 1927, to Walter and Nan Friend. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended John Carroll University. Mr. Friend was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Coast Guard and in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for B&P Motor Express and Liquid Carbonic and later worked for the Ohio Turnpike after he retired. He enjoyed playing golf and motorcycling. He is survived by his children, Joan (Fano) Alvarado, Jeanne Garrett, Judith (Scott) Scribner, Mary Kay (Ron) McClain; grandchildren, Chad (Melanie) Rohrbacher, Amy Rohrbacher, Devon Garrett, Jay (Amy) Kaitlyn, Kevin Scribner, Bryan (Becky) McClain, Ronald (Megan) McClain, Bethany (Ken) Kevorkian, Samantha McClain; five great-granddaughters, Addison, Marin, Katryn, Makaela, Kennedy and Riley. He also is survived by his sisters-in-law, Srs. Mary Leo Furlong SND, Beatrice Ann Furlong SND, Joan Furlong SND, Noreen Furlong, and brother- in-law, Patrick (Kathy) Furlong. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Friend and his sister, Jean Lietaerdt. Memorial services were held May 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Coyle Funeral Home. Memorials contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
ETHEL TIBBITS
Ethel Ruth Tibbits, 73, of Maumee and formerly of Holland, died Thursday April 10, 2008. She was born in Toledo, on June 21, 1934, to Carl and Virginia (Hile) McDevitt. She married Jack Tibbits in Toledo, on July 18, 1964. She worked for the Toledo Hospital for many years as a clerk in the cancer unit. A member of the Community of Christ Church since 1951, she had taught Bible School and worked with the Zion’s League for young children. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Susan Dussia, Dennis (Angi) Dussia, James (Tammy) Tibbits, Kenneth (Karen) Tibbits, Patty (Chuck) Grabraczyk; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on July 23, 2003; daughter, Marsha Dussia, and brother, James McDevitt. Funeral services were held April 18, in the Chapel of Chimes at Toledo Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by the Neville Funeral Home, Holland. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family.

Jean Ann Montgomery, 70, of Holland, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Arbors of Sylvania. She was born on July 28, 1937, in Whitehouse, Ohio, to Glen and Velva Bauman. She was employed by the City of Maumee as a custodian, and worked at Tomlinson Drug Store.She was an Elvis Presley fan, collected Coca-Cola memorabilia and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.Ms. Montgomery is survived by her sons, Andrew Montgomery, Russell (Shirley) Montgomery, James (Molly) Montgomery and Don (Vicki) Montgomery; daughter, Cindy Sheileir; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen (Sharon) Bauman, and Terry (Gloria) Bauman; sisters, Mary Cook, Hollie (Larry) Dreier, Janet (Harold) Wolff, and special friend, Chris Watson.Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m., in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Giuseppina D’Amore, 78, of Holland, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born on April 11, 1929, in Candida, Avellino, Italy, to Stanley and Carolina (Delaure) D’Amore.She is survived by her sisters, Maryanne DeLorenzo and Alfonsina (Anthony) Bruno; sister-in-law, Rose D’Amore; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Fiorabella Parziale, and brother, Louis D’Amore.A Rosary was recited April 4, in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee. Funeral services began April 5, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. CARL HUMPHREYS
Carl Douglas Humphreys, 72, of Holland, died Monday, March 31, 2008, in the Spring Meadows Extended Care, Holland. He was born in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, the son of Carl and Mary Humphreys, and was known to family and friends as “Doug.” He served in theU.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Mary Jane Shively of Cleveland, Ohio. His employment with the P.I.E. Trucking Co. spanned 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Teamsters Local 20.He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; sons, Mark (Laura) Humphreys of Boca Raton, Florida, Donald Humphreys of Holland, and Pamela Humphreys, also of Holland; grandchildren, Brooke Humphreys, Daniel Humphreys, Amanda Ray; sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Fitzpatrick of Boca Raton, and Sandra (Richard) Tramte of Mentor, Ohio; sister-in-law, Helen Humphreys, and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Humphreys and granddaughter, Jessica Humphreys.Funeral services were held April 4, in the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home. Interment was in St. Richard’s Cemetery, Swanton, Ohio.

BARBARA ANDERSON
BARBARA ANDERSON
Barbara Ann (Perry) Anderson, 68, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born February 14, 1940, in Toledo, and was raised by parents, Charles and Helen Youngman. She married John Anderson on February 10, 1962.
She worked for more than 20 years at Bittersweet Farms and was currently working there one day a week. She also taught at the Children's Theatre in Toledo, and was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Bill) Rickman of Perrysburg; son, John (Laurie Schlegel) Anderson of Holland, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa, Angela, John, Samantha, Lucas and Jakob; brothers, David (Inge) Youngman, Dennis Youngman and Bill (Jenny) Youngman; sisters, Marylin (Larry Laberdie) Kopkau and Shelly Collins; many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jeanie Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John, on August 27, 1989.
Funeral services were held March 8, at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, with the Rev. Ann Marshall officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.

MYRNA BELLINGHAM
Myrna M. Bellingham, 98, of Holland, Ohio, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Lutheran Village at Wolfcreek. She was an active member of Monroe Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and knitting. She and her husband, William, enjoyed traveling, especially visiting their grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, William (Renee) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kay (Lewis) Saxby, Jean (Patrick) Johnson and Linda (Richard) Allardyce of Oakton, Virginia; seven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Gwen Osenbaugh, and grandson, Thomas Huntington Taylor.
Visitation and services were private with burial in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by the J. Jeffrey Fretti Funeral Home.

DAVID RIDENOUR
David Wayne Ridenour, 72, of Holland, died March 12, 2008. He was born April 15, 1935, to Lloyd and Ann Ridenour in Dearborn, Michigan. After growing up in Delphos, Ohio, he joined the United States Army and served in the demilitarized zone in Korea. A long-term commercial banker and graduate of the ABA National Installment Credit School and Stonier Banking School, he spent 30 years at The First National Bank of Toledo. He moved on to Ohio Citizens Bank that later became National City Bank of Northwest Ohio for another 10 years, and retired as an executive vice president.
He served on many boards or organizations including Crosby Gardens, later known as The Toledo Botanical Garden, and the Boy Scouts of America. He also taught many American Institute of Banking courses for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering and working with SCORE, Selective Counselors of Retired Executives, providing business advice to entrepreneurs, and was an officer.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, taking trips to northern Canadian rivers and traveling to the Florida mangroves and Keys. He was a long time member of Rockwell Springs Trout Club in Castalia, Ohio. He also enjoyed bird hunting and playing golf.
He was an active member of the Hidden Harbour Home Owners Association and Providence Lutheran Church
Mr. Ridenour is survived by his wife, Shirley (Miller); sons, Mark (Karen) of Sylvania, Michael (Cynthia) of Yoder, Wyoming; daughter, Marna (Eric) Ward of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Stephanie, Lauren, Megan, Trent, Mary, Chelsea, and Jocelyn; in-laws, Betty Ridenour and Judith and Ron Diener; nieces and nephews, Kathy (Fred) Leigh, Robert (Elaine) Ridenour, and Kevin (Jen) Kopfman, William (Kim) Kopfman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, and niece, Kelly Kopfman.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 15, at Providence Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis King officiating. Interment was in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by the Walker Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Good Samaritan Fund at Providence Lutheran Church that provides sustenance for needy community members.

RAUL "ROY" RODRIGUEZ
Raul C. "Roy" Rodriguez, 49, of Holland, died Sunday, March 9, 2008. He graduated from Spencer Sharples and held a number of degrees. He enjoyed softball and cars.
He is survived by his parents, Leonardo and Alicia Rodriquez; daughters, Angelique (Robert) Rodriguez, Rachel (Derrick) Rodriguez, Nicole and Ashley; son, Neil; brothers, Leonard (Nena) Rodriguez, Gilbert (Sandy) and Juan (Brenda); special grandson, Derrione; special uncle, Greg (Alicia) Rodriguez; special aunt, Yolonda (Robert) Vargas; aunts and uncles, Felix and Maria, Janie and Beto, Jovita and Leonardo and Carmen Rodriguez; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Fito and Gloria Ramirez and Henry Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Derrieis, and uncle, Nacho Rodriguez.
A Scripture Service was recited March 13, at the Coyle Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held March 15, in Immaculate Conception Church, Marygrove, Ohio. Interment was in the church cemetery.

ADA VESEY
Ada Mae Vesey, 87, of Holland, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. She was born in Toledo on June 30, 1920, to Reed and Mary (Haupricht) Tipping. She married Rex Vesey on June 25, 1941, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was employed by Sautter's 5 Star Market in Sylvania as a bakery and deli manager for 33 years before retiring. She was a member of the Holland Historical Society and she participated with the Senior Citizen Center at Providence Lutheran Church.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking and gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Rex (Marlene) Vesey; daughter, Beth (Tom) Como; grandchildren, Reed Vesey, Cori (Brett) Vannatta, Carrie (Charlie) Butler and Kim (Matt) Norbuta; great-grandchildren, Mason, Jenna and Alec Butler, Riley Vannatta, Andrew and Aubree Norbuta; brother, James Tipping and sister, Mary Lou Walbolt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Vesey.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel. Burial was in Springfield Township Cemetery.
